    Hole in my oil pan.

    Got a late 80's 4.3 with a hole in the oil pan. I have it off and have attempted about 15 times to weld/braise it. All attempts failed. I'm throwing in the towel. Any reason why i cannot use an automotive oil pan on this engine? They are cheap and readily available. Thanks

    Vibration dampener depth

    Putting my 4.3 back together.... Check out my photo. I have about 3/4 of an inch space between the inside of the dampener and the face of the timing chain cover. It looks excessive to me. I torqued it to spec, but it looks like it's hanging out there a long way. Thoughts?
