Just passing on info from another forum, After looking at the two engines, I personally would choose the 30HP just for all the added features it has standard. On a side note however it would seem in the higher HP engines that most engines in a specific group are just detuned versions of the top...
Well from the Suzuki forum the consensus is the difference is a $12 air restrictor plate? (The 25 has one and the 30 has an open intake.)

I have a 1962 40HP Johnson Short shaft, my new boat is made for a longshaft, I found a guy selling a 1977 35HP Johnson long shaft.

What is the best way to plug holes in a transom?
My boat has a few holes in it from a previously mounted motor and what looks like a fish finder or such, a few screw holes and a few larger bolt holes.
