Re: 1975 Omega Restore, the project goes on.
Ok so I had a couple days off from laying flooring and made it to the boat. While I was helping my friend parents "lost cause" his dad and our other buddy put the cap back on.
Now it sits like this until we get the rest of the deck and custom built stuff in place, then we will prep it for paint (white).
Lost also got started on our motor mount, we cant really finish it off until we get the motor on the hoist and sort of hold it in place to see where our bolts or studs will be.
We made the decision to cut the bow floor out and glass the cap to the deck, we decided this on a few reasons.
1. there are hundreds if not thousands of spider cracks and cracks that go all the way through the floor. Grinding and filling them all would take the better part of a year.
2. when we built our deck we built it pretty much level, we did not take into account that the boat manufacture put a slight slope on the front floor, so we have about a 1/2" gap at the front of the floor and zero gap at the rear.
3. If we glass it in we will have no more screws going into our brand new deck.
4. we dont want to put a transition strip in where the floor starts and when we paint the deck with non slip it will all be very uniform.
Here is the part I am talking about
Next we built our seat pedestal bases, we decided to go with studs from the bottom, 5200 them in, then PB around them. We will test them out to see if the bolts break loose from the pb, if so we will have to rethink it.
