And I hate to ask, but where are your transom hooks - isn't that what started this whole adventure?

Looks real god, Bill. How are ya gonna tube?

I'm glad you guys asked! Here are my tubing anchors, inspired by SigSaur. 3" x 1/4" stainless steel, bedded with 1520, and double nutted.

Also used one on the back of the bow eye.

Foam going under the gunwales:

More foam in the bow:

Hold-down for the bow gas tank: (just some aluminum angle and a cam buckle strap.)

Oh, OK. Well sealed. But why one in the bow.

When is the re-splash? This weekend?

New thing I'm trying - tubing in reverse!

That's the plan - just have to re-do the wiring, fuel line, cut and install the rest of the foam, install trim, seats, top, and throttle control.

Oh God...I'd better get off the computer and get back out there!

Turn this thing off and get to work. Times awasting and it's almost the weekend. :watermelon: Reverse tubing - We need pics!

Re: Tore the transom ...how to repair? (pics)

Friday is a blur...got to it at 7am and didn't quit until 3:30am Saturday morning...but I got it done!

Here are the final pics and story

I used the little plastic drain tubes for the splashwell...primarily for speed and ease of installation (without having to build a little flaring tool). But I discovered an unexpected "feature" of this decision that I quite like.

Presumably you normally trim the tube to length...I didn't think of this and just installed them as-is. As you can see below, they protrude a little, but on reflection I think I like this...by standing off a little proud from the stern it should help avoid the streaking that can occur, as seen in the third pic:

Most of Friday's Marathon was wiring. It's funny how you could do a half-*** job in 2 hours but a good job takes not 4 or 8 but 20!!!

But I hate bad wiring, so I decided to try and do a good job from the start.

Remember, this is what I started with. A tangled mess of wires, almost no fuses, everything just ring-terminal'd straight to the battery (I hate that).

Re: Tore the transom ...how to repair? (pics)

My plan was to install a 4-way battery switch in the stern, and a proper marine fuse panel under the dash. That along with neat wiring and the addition of a couple of extra circuits (GPS. fish finder, 12V accessory plug) form the basis of my new system.

On with the pics:

The battery switch and a ground (negative) bus bar were installed in the little panel under the splashwell. I cut that panel down a bit because I wanted the extra space behind it for the battery (and for a toolbox on the port side) and I didn't need to close it off and fill it with foam since I already have about 18 cu ft in the boat.

I made a small panel to mount the fuse box by using the cut-off from the under-the-splashwell panel.

You'd think I was wiring the space shuttle with all the stuff in the boat during the process!!

Very nice progress!
I can certainly agree 100% with you when it comes to wiring...
Neat and organized wiring wiring is not only a pleasure to look at, but if the time ever comes that something needs troubleshooting, it becomes a simple matter of tracking down the problem systematically, as opposed to ripping whatever hair one has left on their head out...
IMHO, it is definitely worth the extra hours to know that it is done right and safe!
Way to go!:)

The re-splash COULD NOT have gone better!!

It fired right up, ran like a top, and handled like a dream.

The icing on the cake was that the newly installed fish finder and the Smart Tabs SX performed better than my expectations. Both were fantastic, and money very well spent.

The boat never lifts the bow high when accelerating now and is up on plane in 2-3 seconds regardless of load. I find I can stay up on plane from my max of 35 mph down to 15mph. Simply amazing difference. I never would have believed it.

And as for the fish-finder - it's the Lowrance Elite-4x DSI 3.5-Inch Color Down Scan Imaging Sonar. The online ads and pamphlet inside feature some incredibly life-like images of bottom features - had me thinking "yea, right" and looking forthe tiny print that said "artist's impression". But this little thing is amazing. Just ridiculously cool tech for a couple of hundred bucks. I wish some of our military systems were half as good!

Here she is at her home birth. (You'll have to forgive my wonky dock - some giant fat guy and his drunk friends on their massive pontoon boat felt it was ok to use my dock when I was not there and screwed it all up.)

Most importantly...the kids had a hoot, tubing their little butts off all weekend. It was a blast!
