I will download one today . Thank you for the reply .
You can't download legit mercury manuals for copyright reasons. However if you join AOMCI.org, there are old manuals posted for members.

99% of the sites that claim you can download are scam sites

Also , I've looked everywhere for the rectifier ?? Can't seem to locate it . I'm assuming it would be obvious . I will post pictures when I get home . Thanks again for everyone's time with this .

It may have left the factory with a " plate / disc rectifier " often green in color.----Perhaps replaced with a newer style.--Any wires coming down from under the flywheel ?-----Pictures will help.

Only wires it has is to the magneto/ distributor . I can see the flywheel from under and can't see any other wires that may be coming from the top . This year has a top cowling that is a chore to remove . The pull cord is encompassed into the top lid . Both the manual choke at the front top of the engine and the electric choke solenoid have to be removed to take the very top lid off . However . I don't see any wires at all coming down . I'm learning a ton from the posts on this forum . Appreciate your folks knowledge ! Thank you for any advice , feed back or guidance.

I am quite familiar with this style of motor.---Have a few including some white Mercury motors.-----If there are no windings under the flywheel then it likely left the factory without a charging system.----Battery is only needed to run a starter motor.----The magneto does not require 12 volts to make spark !!

I see the sun through the clouds ! Searching for something that's isn't there has forced me to learn a lot . Keeping a good quality freshly charged starting battery will be a priority for sure. I am planning on adding a second battery to run the accessories . Thank you for the information !

I have a 1963 model 65 HP and a few others.----So no mystery on these wonderful motors here.----You must install a new water pump impeller BEFORE launching the boat !----There is no warning / shut down system on this motor.----It could overheat and score pistons.----Then it will be sticker shock looking for a new motor.

I am planning on doing that for sure . Apparently it was done recently however and unfortunately the previous owner , who I was told treated this like his baby , passed on and I don't have dates or engine hrs . The plug to remove the bolt under the trim tab looks pretty new . Just the same , I want piece of mind .
