Am I missing something? No one said anything about the outdrive leaking oil out until you mentioned it.My discussion of the leaking bellow was just my trying to figure out why the outdrive oil leaked out.

The OP mentioned the u-joint bellows was cracked. That's all we know. The drive should be taken off. The top cover does not!
I
Don't get the Maxum. It has a square windshield, so it will look dated and be more associated with a 1980's boat than a newer one.
... no kidding. At least it doesn't look like something outta' the 70's. Those things were ugly. :facepalm:What is wrong with a dated looking boat?

Yes, some will argue that it costs tons of money to fix a boat up.. But, I'm usually one to argue against it.. My own labor is cheap.
turbocorrado, where are you located? from there we can probably help point you toward a whole bunch of boats within a few hours from you
i appreciate you searching, ive seen most of those, the ones that are water ready are "too old" and the others are in the same or worse condition as the wellcraft.being in Delaware is a high $ area. I would increase your search area. I saved $5k on my SeaRay when I bought it by driving 300 miles to St Louis compared to where I lived. For you I would consider a trip into a neighboring state.
however here are a few I found within 200 miles of your area (besides the ones you have pics of)

I'd still go with the Maxum, I tell you it's a good boat, besides it's 21' you have plenty of room inside to move around, a good thing, plus it will ride, & handle better then a smaller boat. I'd also bet it's a 45mph boat, so you have some leeway to cruise with your friends. I'd go there, and offer $3000.
