Mine are around that now. $140 to repair and $550+ for a new one. The price of fancier toys.
But I bet you don't have 2 of them on there at a time. $1200 for a set!

Fortunately, I have only hit one of them once in 12 years. $250 to fix. I do have a spare set($1200) though sitting in the bow of my boat.

While the Wellcraft seems a bit abused and tattered, to me in a vacuum/if they were all perfect, it would have been my choice. As to the engine size, it weighs somewhere around 300lbs more than my boat with a 4.3 in it if I'm reading the chart correctly and I bet it also has a large gas tank. It's going to be right on the very edge of providing satisfying performance I feel especially when you load it up with people. I get 51.2mph on GPS with a cheap $100 21 pitch prop but as soon as I load it up with fuel, gear and a bunch of people, that speed becomes 44ish on GPS. That boat and my boat should have had the much higher HP v8 options. On the up side, as I approached 40 and am now on a larger lake, I almost never go WOT so top speed isn't as appealing as it was even 5 years ago.

He might get lucky. What's the chance this seller happened to have a single axle trailer that had a 5200# axle laying around?

the current boat on the trailer im buying is a 22ft speed boat, cant remember what kind, but it was much bigger then the boat i bought

as for the prop situation the plan was to get a new one and have the old one repaired as a spare

Just make sure to check the capacity tag on it, or at least find a model number so that you can look it up.

BRYANT! I previously owned a a 91 searay and it was crap, I replaced all the floor and stringers due to rot caused somewhat by poor design and lack of taking care of it by previous owners. Just picked up an 18ft 1994 Bryant with a 4.3 and what a world of difference and only 3 years difference between it and the old searay. All composite structural components with a lifetime warranty on the floor stringers transom and hull. The build quality is exceptional. Id say definitely stay away from the 3.0 they're slow, parts are expensive due to it not being a motor Chevy used in vehicles and they're notorious for cracking blocks and having problems. Thats just my 2 cents but heck what do I know. Hope it helped

I pretty much keep my carpet out of the boat. Makes cleaning up easy and when kids spill something on a fiberglass floor, it is not a problem versus stained carpet.
Someone mentioned Bryant boats. They are an ultra, ultra, ultra low production boat who build a handful per year. Other than their bad helm design, they are really nice boats to be sure.

Personal pref. I leave mine in, better traction and my floor is blue so it gets pretty warm with the carpet out.

leave it in until you have to clean it, then take it out and pressure wash it, let it dry and put back in.

I've got the flattest feet on the planet and so standing at the helm sans carpet is difficult so I just pop on a pair of crocks which are cushy and grippy too.

I second everyone's opinions about the trailer. Take the free, double axle trailer. If you take the $600 that you were going to put into the single axle trailer, you can have 4 new rims/tires and 4 new sets of bearings.. maybe even 4 new hubs..

I've missed too many days of boating due to faulty bearings because of overloaded trailers in the past.
