I know at least in michigan the only way to double tow is if the first trailer is a 5th wheel type, I am sure a lot of the other "double tow" states are that way as well.

I guess you have done your research on "a lot of other states" that require 5th wheel for first trailer. Of all the double trailer states, there are 3 or 4 that require the first trailer be 5th wheel which includeds Michigan. I won't be going there.

I pull my 1995 16' Lowe with Toyota Venza 2.7L 5-cylinder... Boat motor and trailer are around 1000LBS

I assume your talking about the guy wondering about towing with his minivan. Cause I know my truck can handle two trailers... Heck I've came across the scales just under 27,000 lbs. reply with a quote helps us all understand what/who your talking about! I agree that a van shouldn't tow a large boat, but I bet it can handle 3-4k without over heating.

I ended up towing my 4000+ lb boat/trailer one whole season with a 2000 Silhouette with the 3500lb tow package way back when I first bought the boat...which was three truck based suv's ago. I did surprisingly good considering it had high mileage and I towed thousands of miles. Never had an issue or a repair beyond tires/brakes/new rear air shocks/water pump with it in all the years I owned it as I just sold it this summer. The only time there were any concerns was in town when you'd be going slow and the air wasn't flowing through the radiator like on the highway. For some reason that van took a long time to kick the cooling fan on which would happen even when not towing but in a bad traffic jam. It never overheated but it is unnerving watching the needle creep up to uncomfortable levels. I don't condone over towing and wouldn't do it again given what I know now.

I use my 99 F150 5.4 4x4. Pulls my car, sleds and boat no prob.

I pull my 1964 Starcraft 18' boat with a 2008 chevy silverado 2500HD with a 6.6 liter Duramax diesel, sometimes the ride is so smooth I tend to forget the boat is back there except when the wind picks up and I get a little shake at 70 mph+ Boat rides nice when I put it high on the winch for some tongue weight.

Aonther pic of my F350 powered by a 6.8 V10. I have owned the 7.3's and one 6.0 (which was a disaster). This is my 2nd V10 and I couldn't be happier with how it performs. The 22.5 Islander is light and could be towed by much less but this truck also tows my flat deck with other trucks on board.

When I'm not pulling my boat with my travel trailer, I pull it with a 2010 Ford F-150.
The weight of the boat plus trailer is less than a full tank of gas. I don't even know it's back there when I'm towing.

I pull my 18ft Mach 1 Spitfire with a 1988 F150 with the 4.9l I6 RWD with a locking 3.08, pulls it surprisingly well after adding a trans cooler!

I have an old 1994 Silverado 2500 LT that I've done some work to over the years and love old beast like a brother. Long tube headers, true dual exhaust 3" pipes off each header into a flowmaster bb series 50 and 2.5" exhaust out each end. Volant cold air intake system. The 4:10 differentials aren't for fuel mileage either.

Turn up your sound unless of course you only enjoy the sound of hissing rotten egg smelling new rigs. Ahhh the sweet smell of clean burning ethanol free premium!

Just bought a new tow rig, a 2014 Ram 1500 Sport crew cab. A huge upgrade over my '99 F150 with the 4.6L Triton, to be sure. I kept the Ford too, though, because this Ram is a little to nice to be doing some things in.

A 2000 Dodge Dakota Sport 4X4 V6, I tow 2 boats with it, a 1991 SeaNymph 14ft aluminum and a 1986 21ft celebrity cuddy [ It's too big for the truck] I used to tow it with my dads 2010 Ford F-350 Super Duty but he sold it when he stopped towing his 5th wheel. So it's time to sell the boat and down grade to either a center console or a dual console with an outboard.

thanks i did the car from the ground up the boat was this way then i re sealed the lark 35 and it runs like a top. more to come.

I knew a guy that had the new Tundra... The only thing he couldnt pass was a gas station! Good tow rig for a gasser though.
