Pull my old Sea Ray SRV 240 with my '02 dodge Ram 1500, boy does the Ram suck down the gas towing it.

Re: What do you pull your boat with?

Two boats: The first, a 16 foot Astro glass (circa 1988) is about 1500 lbs on trailer. Pulls great with either my 4x4 F150 with 5.4 liter (all stock) or 2007 4x4 suburban with 6.0l (again, all stock). Tongue weight on this boat on trailer is a little low, but can't move the boat any further forward on the trailer to fix. (on long trips I move the three batteries to the bow and tie them down to move the weight). The other boat is much bigger - Trophy 2302WA (23 foot walkaround with cuddy) about 6200 lbs. The F150 pulls much better than the suburban - less sway and sits more level. On steep ramps both trucks work better in 4 low to get that up out of the water. Both have michelin ATX M&S tires. The suburban slips a little more than the ford on steep ramps. I blame this on weight distribution.

Prior to the Tahoe we had a 1995 2wd model and it was a true one of a kind vehicle. The 4.3L struggled but did a good job!

When the Expedition is out of town I'm forced to use this relic - my daughter's 53 3/4 ton with a 350 and 700R4 auto.

How has it worked out now? What year is your Sienna? Is it the AWD or FWD version?

Re: What do you pull your boat with?

I see a lot of people going both ways on the 4.3 S-10s. I used to own a 94 Blazer 4x4 tow package. I towed my dad's old 19' Aristocraft a few times with no issue. Once I pulled a fairly large pop up camper with full water tanks and gear from Ohio to Tennessee (est. about 4000lbs). I doubt I would have ever wanted any more behind it than that, but it was a workhorse for its size. It's too bad those trucks are history and the Ranger will soon be. Nowadays I tow my 16 1/2 footer with a 2010 5.7l Tundra. Definitely a big difference.

I pull a 21' Seadoo (4100 lbs dry with trailer, a little more with gear and stuff) with a 2010 Nissan Pathfinder, 6 cyl FWD. Tow capacity is 6,000 so we haven't had any issues. I'm looking to trade my Accord in for a truck so I can tow it with the truck too.

Pull a Doral Sunquest 170 with a 2005 Honda Pilot AWD. Boat / trailer / full fuel and gear about 2600. It does the job and is kitted for 4500. I don't like it too much and it is not the best tow vehicle I have had. Just as well I sold it to my kid and am now looking for a Tacoma or a Tundra unless someone on this forum talks me out of that. Maybe a Frontier. You can definetely tell the boat is there. Always been a Honda fan but somewhat disappointed in the Pilots towing ability. Makes sense when you think about it though. Any engine with a max torque and max horespower number that are close to the same will not provide the pulling torque you are looking for.

I pull the 17 foot MFG Caprice with a 2006 Chevy TrailBlazer 4x4 with trailer package. When the TrailBlazer is fully loaded with camping gear, the back end is a little heavy, but it does the trick. The inline 6 works great! I have no problem gettin of the line! 4x4 helps on the steep/wet ramps. I think that on the next vacation, I may switch to the 2011 Chevy Silverado Ext cab 1500 8 foot bed 5.3l Z71 4x4, just to be on the safe side!

Don't know who you are asking, but I tow a 1989 Javelin 396/Evinrude V4 140 OB with a 2000 Toyota Sienna FWD. Boat/motor is shy of 2000 lbs and the Sienna pulls it just fine. Not a single problem getting the boat out of the lakes here in Minnesota thus far...
