I use my 16.5ft boat for fishing in the Irish Sea on the East & South East coast of Ireland, quite a bit away from you lot out there and completely different conditions.

I live in central Florida, and fish the Chain of Lakes, But prefer the St Johns River from Lake Dexter to Lake George. Love crappie fishing the St Johns and striper fishing Lake George and Silver Glen area. Like to limb line and trot line the river at night for catfish. And next to that love cooking them and watching friends enjoy the fish and hush puppies while some fishing lies are being told.

I went with the Great lakes as I use the 1000 Island area, and going to be in a slip around Wellsley Island next year. I am deployed and missing the whole boating season this year but will make it up next year.

I have the pleasure of living 10 mins from the DE river in DE. I am able to cruise the DE as well as enter the C&D canal to other rivers in MD and the Chesapeake Bay should I dare. A great trek if the conditions are right. The topper is the trip around Pea Patch Island (Civil War Fort) again if the conditions are right. I rarely if ever fish. Strictly pleasure...

Re: What body of water do you boat in?

We are fortunate to have every kind of water body there is less than one hour's drive from our home:

Lake Sam Rayburn (large lake)
Angelina River
Lake Steinhagen (small lake)
Village Creek
Pine Island Bayou
Neches River
Sabine River
Lake Sabine (large saltwater bay)
Gulf of Mexico

These are the boats I currently own:
Coleman Scanoe 16' w/ 3.5 Tohatsu and 30# thrust 12V Minn Kota troller
Alumacraft River jon 10' w/ 4 hp Evinrude
Sprint ProMaster 21' CC Bay w/ 120 hp Force
Old Town Discovery 169 ABS canoes
Ocean Kayak Caper sit-on-top kayak
Zest Two Tandem sit-on-top kayak

which pretty much covers it.....except an offshore boat....mmmmm.

Wow, how much time you got? I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area and there are a lot of options around here. I fish big lakes , small lakes, the California Delta (which I believe is actually a river system), San Francisco Bay and just outside the Golden Gate Bridge sticking tight to the shore line (so, that qualifies as ocean water). If I find more, I'll boat it to fish it!

Usually the Columbia River because it is basically my backyard. When we go camping and take the boat, we like to go to the Sun Lakes areas in Central WA state. NO skiing, tubing, or PWC's before 10am so us fishermen can have a peaceful morning of angling. But at 10:01, all hell breaks loose!

Re: What body of water do you boat in?

As a Fisherman Here is my cup of tea:

Living out of Dallas/ Fort Worth, TX

Stripper Fishing: Lake Texoma, Lake Whitney
Small Mouth Bass: Lake Lewisville (can be some nice Hybrid's), Lake Aquilla
Large Mouth Bass: Lake Grandbury, Lake Whitney
Wanna Get out the house lake: Mountain Creek Lake, Lake Benbrook

Yes I know its a wide varity however I am pretty lucky all these lake are within 100 Miles of my house in all directions. There are 10-15 more lakes within this range that I have not had the oppunity to get to yet. One day I will make them all in the area but learning new lakes isnt always the easiest thing to do

Lake Erie -- out of Cleveland. I can't imagine not living so close to a lake this size - it would kill me.

We also boat in Lake Cumberland KY - what a beautiful area.
