Re: Wellcraft 186 eclipse stringer and deck restore... SPLASHED!

Ive had ao many "how in the crap am i going to do this moments" during this project it's not even funny haha. I guess this just proves that once again, with the right research and dedication, anyone can do this!

The captains chairs are coming! My dad ordered them for me from veada for my graduation present so i just threw the lounge in there for the splash. I don't know how long it will take the to get in, but my plan is to have her 100% completed by the 4th of july weekend.

Thanks for the tip on the vinyl spray, it may be my next project, I used some clorox clean up on it when i got it home yesterday and it worked good for getting the mildew off of the seats. I may try and do the vinyl spray while im waiting on my trim peices to get back, that way there's nothing in the way to get any overspray on.

Re: Wellcraft 186 eclipse stringer and deck restore... SPLASHED!

I took my upholstery pieces over to the upholstery shop this morning. Im hoping that he has them done by friday so i can install saturday and be on the water sunday. I decided to get one more piece redone so that means all of my seat bottoms will be redone along with the sunpad and the motor cushion. I went with just white with a blue stripe and he said that he will come up with a pattern to break up the solid blue.

Firecapt check in later this weekend and i will have a picture. If your sundeck is like mine it is actually really neat. It took me a while to figure out, but the seat cushions pop out and you butt them up to the motor cover and the gunwale cushion to have a full sundeck. Its a really cool idea that gives you the chance to have either two more seats or a full sundeck without losing any space in the boat. Ive seen two different designs in a 186 so it may not be the same.

Bought a few goodies tonight! This is the best part of boating by far haha

I needed a few more life jackets because i only had four so i got some of the cheap ones. I have two good ones for skiing and tubing and such so i just needed some more so if i get stopped i have enough for all the passengers. The boat buckles are cool and easy to use, they're even reflective! And of course the rollers i got are not the right size  my old ones are shot and need to be replaced asap

The buckles are a serious step up from the straps i was using

Well my upholstery guy came through and he had my upholstery done yesterday. I installed it this morning and headed to the river with a few buddies to launch the boat and finish the trailer. We installed the new rollers and headed out for some wakeboarding. The boat ran good but had a little trouble starting, im thinking it just might need a good carb cleaning. Everytime we stopped it would take a couple minutes to get it started back up again.

Heres a few pics of my rear sundeck area all finished up

Haven't posted back in quite awhile but I've been watching your quick progress and I would be remiss if I didn't say that it put a smile on my face to see this pic.
Here it comes... SPLASH!!

It's great to see you beaming with pride and that feeling of a job well done.:)

I bet that pride level even went up with the interior back in. It looks awesome!

I never felt it hit anything.... Im sick with anger still... Im going to try to find a place tomorrow to fix it if it can be fixed.

Thanks for all the compliments guys Shes really looking good! I went out on a friends boat today since the boat is out of commission and i saw a boat exactly like mine! i talked with the owner and he said it was an 86 model and he restored his two years ago. It was awesome to see a twin out on the water and talk with someone who knew what i went through

Well the good news is the prop can be fixed! The bad news, people want an arm and a leg to fix a 5 blade prop and They know that if you forked out the money to buy it, your going to fork out the money to fix it. $250 was my worst case scenario quote but he said i could get a new one for around $700  They told me it would be done friday or early next week, but since im going to be out of town next week, it looks like im boatless for two weeks

I must say to did a fine job on your boat! Congrats!

I know the prop thing ha you down but it happens...... Could be worse like some dumb***** who cooked his entire outdrive by not pressure testing for leaks.....OH YEA that was me

Haha ricky it seems like boats just bring bad luck! My dad just told me it happens and told me i was lucky, its just a prop. He said he saw a guy rip off his whole lower unit once when my mom was skiing behind the boat just downriver from where we launch! You live and you learn, I bet It doesn't happen again!

Once again thanks for all the kind words guys! She's not finished yet but its close! The finishing touches are really making this boat shine and everyone seems to love it! The doubters of this project are really eating their words now!!

Hit up craigs list and get a cheaper used 3 blade for a spare. That stuff happens to the best of us

Yeah definitely get a spare. Aluminum props are quite reasonable.

To be honest I forgot my pitch and diameter but don't they have a calculator for that when you want to select a prop if not post up in the prop forum they'll be glad to give the info just give them all your info in the post engine,O/D, and hull specs to start. Good luck

Good Morning, What kind of carpet did you buy? Is it regular marine grade carpet or an indoor outdoor carpet from a big box store like lowes, HD? Do you have a link to it? Also, what did you gule it down with.

I'm sorry if I missed these answers in your posts somewhere.

Great job!!!

I don't know the brand but i ordered it from a carpet store that was local. Its a marine grade carpet with a latex backing and i Applied it with an outdoor carpet glue. I think henry was the brand but i will double check.
