Thanks Boomyal - I have been unwell but am starting to feel better.<br /><br />Let me add this. Don't give me this crap that the left is against this war out of concern for our troops. If they cared, they would be screaming to better arm our soldiers and doing things to help their families. And don't tell me it is out of concern for innocents in Iraq - only a "disingenuous filmmaker" type would claim they were better off under one of the world's worst mass murders in recent history and his demented sons. And don't tell me it is out of fear that we are going to generate more attacks on the US - They didn't need an excuse on 911! I guess they think AL Zarqawi (sp) and his band of merry men were in Iraq to grow tomatoes and left alone, would never have thought of attacking the US.<br /><br />All you have to do is watch the tapes from 911 or the beheading tapes of Daniel Pearl or Nick Berg to know we are up against evil every bit as ruthless and determined as the Nazis were and there is only one way to deal with them. Destroy them before they destroy us. If they ever get their hand on WMDs they WILL use them. We can not allow that to happen at any cost. Any cost!<br /><br />Now that the Russians have had 3 tastes of the Islamo-Fascists in as many days, I think they will be singing a new tune soon....

Here here Ralph. I'd like to think there was an antiseptic solution to this problem too PW. Considering the way Najaf is going, I'd say they are definitely not cowboying it. They could have just blown the shrine up and inflamed the Iran sympathizing Shiites, but it might work out such that the Iraqi PM Allawi gains political capital. This is a hearts and minds operation, and Iraq and Afghanistan have quite a few. Kerrys weak stance, were he to be elected, would insure failure and defeat and withdrawl with continued and escallating war. It would be the Cambodian killing fields all over again in the Middle East followed by the real war from hell...an opinion.

The Najaf situation is indicitive of the whole situation in Iraq, IMO, in that we are between the proverbial rock and the hard place.<br /><br />Bomb that place, level it, kill Al Sadr and all his cronies, which we clearly could do, of course, and we risk an all out civil war. Leave him there, and negotiate with him, and we are negotiating with terrorists and we all know how well that works.<br /><br />Maybe we should give Chalabi another call, and ask him what he would do?<br /><br />In the FWIW department, you all will be glad to hear that I am betting on Bush to win this election! I deal on a daily basis with Canadian businessmen, who simply cannot imagine that the Americans are stupid enough to re elect Bush. I tell them that yes, indeed we are exactly that stupid.<br /><br />So three of these business people, thinking this is easy money, have bet me $50 (US) that Bush won't win.<br /><br />I figure if I lose the bet, I could not be any happier! If I win the bet, at least I get something out of the next four years of crisises!

Yes PW2, you can find uninformed liberals here<br />in Canada, they have formed a minority government here. Quebec , and Eastern Canada is a breading<br />ground for them Much like New York. <br />Yes a lot of them are business owners. And what <br />makes their world go around is their Bank accounts,<br />and is their primary concern, much like yours.<br />I can say with confidence, The majority of<br />Americans can see right through Kerry and will not<br />be fooled at the ballot box. <br />What happens politically in the U.S. effects many<br />more country's, especially Canada.

Now they are taking children hostage. Who wants to bet if they kill any of those children, that people across the world will start killing them on sight? How are the police going to stop the civilians from hunting those that bread, and then train, cold blooded killers?<br /><br />I think for a little while they need to allow us to carry our firearms on school ground. This way we can have them with us while we vote this year. Also, we can escort our kids to and from school while armed.<br /><br />I can just imagine what they have in store for us as we get closer to the elections.

It is entirely possible to support our troops, admire our soldiers, and DISAGREE with the fact that they have been put in the position that they find themselves in. "Daddy had a war boost his popularity, I need a good happy ending war to boost mine" Guess what... NO HAPPY ENDING HERE! Our guys are dying. Yes Saddam Hussein needed to be removed from power. Might have been a good idea for US to not have put him in power in the first place.<br /><br />I have an American flag flying proudly on my house, my truck, and my boat. In November, I have to choose between a dangerous flip-flop or a moronic puppet that was never even elected in the first place. Some choice! Why won't any real solid candidates ever step up? Just once, could you choose a mainstream news outlet rather than an ultra-right or ultra-left propaganda factory?<br /><br />For the record... I do not consider myself a Republican or a Democrat. In each election, be it local, state or national, I try to find how the candidates stand on issues that concern me. You can all flame me out as much as you want, but I'm really tired of seeing a person get bashed for supporting anybody. Has anyone ever heard of respecting the opinions of your peers? Judging by my read of this thread, I'd have to say NO.
