H2O you could find one of these for $10.

Installed mine yesterday, really liked how well it fit, I am just going to add longer hose to the drain cap to reach the hull drain.

Re: Tin addiction 18' Starcraft Chieftain

The remote oil filter blocks are solid aluminum and the hoses are oil rated. The only thing I would do is replace the hose clamps with SS.

Took the day off today to make a long 4 day day weekend. I've been dreading the donor motor break down for some reason but now I'm utterly sick of looking at that rotten glass heap on my property. I just went out and in less than an hour pulled everything off to make the motor ready for pulling. I have a friend coming over with a boom truck either tomorrow or Saturday and I'm going to pull and then set the motor in my utility trailer so it's mobile for cleaning.

The only thing that frightens me is the fragile looking plastic tube for the raw water. It's sitting right above the coupler and directly in the motors up and out path. Anyone have a suggestion about removing that tube. It looks straight forward but I would have to get a new gasket for the fitting that holds the tube onto the inner transom mount.

Any advice on that or other things to watch for on the motor pull would be greatly appreciated. I've pulled a ton of vehicle motors but this is a bit different.

I've only messed with the 2.5L 4cyl and the I6. Those have both been copper and do get in the way a little bit when pulling the motor.

Thanks for the reply CJ, I'm going to remove it so it doesn't get snapped off.

Any one else make an order here lately and see they want to charge double or triple shipping because stuff is being shipped from different warehouses? Yeah well it made me go elsewhere for parts.

Did some tin work this morning, cut to size the bottoms for the forward compartments. Rather than use the flimsy 1/4" ply the factory used I went with 080 AL and then covered it with tool box tray liner and riveted them down.

From this...

To this...

Going to fab up another AL piece for the bottom forward from the bulkhead up to the bow point to keep stuff off the bottom of the boat. I don't think the factory had anything in there if I remember right.

Happy TGiF!

I typically don't compliment another man's bottoms, but those look good. Nice work.

Yeah and they make for a couple of massive hull stiffeners too. I don't think I needed to go forward of the helm with stiffeners due to the floor supports and front compartment bulkheads spanning the splash rail to the ribs it makes for some serious bow strength.

You should post your thoughts here - http://forums.iboats.com/iboats-forum-website-issues/help-iboats-help-you-629015.html

It upsets me that multi-warehouse causes extra shipping. I buy at one site, not your or my fault.

PMC - Complimenting about a guys nice bottom. The bilge and deck look good. :D

That's odd, I just did my first two order from Iboats in a couple of years, cuz they finally got there Canada shipping down to a reasonable amount.
Floors look real good H2O, spar drying time can be so productive:D

Nice progress. The decking looks great. I too have seen the double shipping when trying to order a couple things here and I too went elsewhere. Personally I think it is a pretty poor business practice resulting in a lot of lost revenue from products by many that also went elsewhere to get their parts.

Anybody who doesn't get updates from the help Iboats help you thread that GA linked, should go read Bob's most recent post about the Iboats low cost guarantee.

A phone call may be somewhat less 'convenient' then a sttrictly online transaction, but IMO, if I can save 5-20bucks AND support our forum host, I would certainly consider making the call to CustSev....

Re: Tin addiction 18' Starcraft Chieftain

Got the 4.3 out of the donor boat today and on the utility trailer. That was the fun part, the transom assembly dis-assembly not so much. The admiral had her camera out for the hoisting. Watch if you have a few minutes to spare.

Off I go to do more shopping now. Seems someone who worked on the boat in the past wasn't very worried about filling empty holes with bolts. I'm missing the lower pivot bolt for the power steering, one of the Y pipe bolts (other 3 were finger tight) and the 4 bolts including the 2 anode bolts were eaten halfway through from the wet rotten transom. The center studs are fine thank god.

Looking forward to the 4.3 being tucked into it's new home! Thanks for stopping by.

AH! WAIT STOP!!!! DON'T LIFT THE ENGINE BY THAT FRONT RING!!!

Poop, too late. Rats, sorry man. Good news, she rode nicely into that trailer so we are all good:joyous:

Yah buddy, that front ring is just for making final adjustments up/down while running the alignment bar. You should have two lifting rings, one towards the front/port and one towards the rear/starboard. Hook a chain between those two points and then hook the lifting chain to that. You can see the white chain I have hooked up here...

Anyhow, run it that way going back in eh:thumb:

Man, nice work with the boom truck, piece of cake:encouragement:
