the only thing holding (most of) us back from unlacing the gloves & poo-pooing all over the nasty glasser donors is the fact that it's in the boat restoration forum.

Bring this baby over to the SC forum so we can break-out the chainsaws and BFHs!

PM sent to Ez requesting a move so we'll see what he says.

Yeah I'm hoping to get some video of the rotten McNasty glasser meeting it's doom playing with the compactor.

Yeah that sounds awesome on the move and crushing a glasser. I am hoping that my donor boat will meet the same fate hoping to crush it with my buddies excavator. It kind of sucks as a donor as the cables, steering, are all to short to work in the 16ss. BUT I did get a 75 hp evinrude and a trailer I really like for $300.00

Thanks for the hearty iboats SC forum welcome! I'm thinking CC will be along shortly with his SS.

Yes, not to big a deal especially seeing you still have the glasser to make a template from. I had long since tossed the glass and had to make a cardboard pattern off the transom plate.

First thing I did was make a template from the glasser, tape it to Chief's transom, transfer the mark for the new cutout and then sawed out the new opening. It was cake easy, just hope it's right! Dowel and glued the upper holes. Going to fab up a larger collar too and after gluing it on I'm thinking that drilling the new upper holes after the mount is on to get them right.

I'm seriously relieved and stoked to see this... I was big time worried about having a usable gas tank... not now tho! :thumb: A simple dry fit seals the deal.

Look what getting to the "Kool Forum" does for ya. Makes tanks slide right in. :D

Did you just widen the stringers a little?

Yeah I drilled out the new rivets and for now everything is just sitting there. I need fab up some hold down brackets and cut those floor supports and then rivet the angle piece back on again to drop a half inch. Looks like I need to raise the deck a half inch to have good clearance for the feed line to the motor. Will also need to create some cross supports over the tank to bridge that span. All cake compared to what I've already been through. Oh and the 5 thick rubber padding strips were in great shape once cleaned up.

Amazing what this SC forum brings for luck.

I haven't got to that yet, they're just sitting there right now and are too high. I plan on running them through my saw, then move the angle down what I think should be a 1/2" and rivet it back on to the support with solids. Sorta Frankenstein floor support but with the solids mushed in it should be plenty strong. I will also have to raise the floor a 1/2" by using furring strips on the outer ends of the ribs. I'm also considering using a center strip of wood for the tanks flat bottom to rest on. There were also 5 long, thick strips of rubber that were salvaged and not rotten in the least. That's great because the tank will be resting on 5 ribs.
