Heat means excess resistance caused by too small a diameter wire, wire length, poor connection, issue with the component accepting the load, etc...

The connections pictured look questionable, have you peeked under the tape?

You need a readung on the battery from a digital meter. 12.6 volts and up is a full charge...12.3 volts..battery is low....below 12 volts battery is considered dead..

not yet. when i noticed this i emediatly took a pic and choose to post before taking a peak. too me the wiring is shoddy looking. (ya i know my fuse block the same but i actually wired it correct myself. just doesnt look pretty. but it works)( and no heat) lol. so on this note. i will now go disconnect the neg post and open up the tape .

If that is a stringer drive the green is positive power down. The blue is positive power up. Tilt motor don't have a ground. It uses the case bolts to intermediate housing for ground. Those connections are crap also and need to be changed

any suggestions? or should i scrap the center connection and wire the motor blue green to the top blue green, solder then heat shrink?

Those spade connectors are not recommended for the heavy load of the tilt mechanism.

If this is indeed a "stringer" the tilt and trim are two different systems. Tilt moves the drive very swiftly up/down. Trim changes the angle of the entire package (engine, transom assy/housing, drive) to achieve best on step performance. Hence the large rubber gasket at the transom

yes i know. i had to replace the trim motor already as there was none with it. as for tilt i know wich one that is. question here was should i take the wires from the tilt motor and solder onto main wires where i pointed out then heat shrink? yes or no.? other suggestions?

Didn't watch your video, .mov downloads and often doesn't work anyway

My suggestion would be to abate the spade terminals and either butt solder or heat shrink butt connect the wires in question. Get yourself a decent shop manual with proper wiring diagrams/service info and wire the system as it was oem

i have my manual, its pdf and i have been over all the wiring diagrams. i noticed this because of no lift again. touched the wires and they were hot. i will be joining them together and soldering with heat shrink. thanks

Get the same size or slightly bigger (and color) wire. Replace from the eyelets to the tilt motor connector. The butt connector with integrated heatshrink work well. Every splice point is also a possible failure point. Connectors should be tight. Crimps should not pull apart with a firm tug. If you have heat... something is not right

Do we know what you're working on yet? Could also do a voltage drop test across various points in your wiring to see where the increased resistance is.

well as it stands, when i toggle up (lift the outdrive up) the voltage drops considerably. i will be fixing the wires today. as for anything else. as i said , i will go through the whole lot of wires on the engine. . i will also be cleaning the contacts on each solenoid. gonna be a fun time for me. lol. cheers

found out the reason why my wires were getting hot on lift. however i have cut the wires to be ready to install the butt connectors. the sterndrive was to the left. it should be straight when tilting up. lol...... (headsmack)
