Nice gauges they look pretty similar to the ones I used on my 18 SS, going to look great on your V5.

Sweet.....I have several Faria dash panels chosen in my wish list, haven't narrowed it down to one yet. Maybe when the Cdn dollar gets a little closer to par i'll splurge then. That's the terminal block I chose also. Good choice WM. Have you thought of where your going to install the gauges? I like the way budski fabd the eyebrow console to mount his on one of his builds. Think that's the way i'll go when I get to that stage.

I like the Faria gauges, I have the Chronos set in the Chief. I repaired the cracks on the original V5 dash panel and used some Krylon paint for plastic. I pretty much had to use something like the original dash as they have a monster hole cut in the console. I almost tossed it but decided to use some plastic welding and epoxy.

You can see the dash sitting on the console in this pic when I was test fitting stuff. I'll get some pics when I set up the gauges in the dash.

Nice looking work there Watermann. You'll have to be soooooo careful when you begin using it.

I like your choice of gauges and by the way, that's a great seat pedestal.

That's a classic look on those guagues. Fits in nicely with the color scheme on the boat.

I was snooping about in Budski's V5 banana boat thread to see how the side panels attached. Seems I'm missing some things.

The angle AL that secures the top of the side panel to the gunnel, I have the bottom AL attachment pieces but they're only like 6' long and they should be 8 - 10' long like the regular SS and my Chief were. I'll have to fab something up so the whole side panel is secured to the decking.

I think the top brackets are separate pieces of AL and I might have 2 of them but there should be 6 or 8 of them and they're about 3' long. A piece of angle AL should work the same to rivet under the gunnel and then rivet the panel on.

It can be seem on the port gunnel.

Tube type supports that attach to the inside of the panel I'm guessing they make the 1/2" ply panel more rigid.

Well it's been super cold here with a north wind blowing, down to -2 w/o wind chill at one point and snow drifts galore. I've been doing some work inside the house since the garage is a balmy 38 with the heat on low to keep things from freezing up in there. Working on the dash and console panels.

Dash is about ready to go in, I have a new TF NFB rotary helm and cable on stand by and it looks like the weather is going to break here. I can't wait to get the pacific influence weather back, that stuff coming down from BC is nasty wicked cold.

The hole that was cut in the dash panel was too big for my switch panel so I improvised with some AL. Gauges in and livewell switch too. Changed out a toggle for a push button for the horn.

Even used the corresponding color for pos/neg shrink tube on the gauge connections, had lots of time on my hands  Still have to wire up the aerator pump switch and I don't think I like the connections the factory did on the switch panel, may have to try and seal those up.

Since I don't technically own a "fishing boat", can you tell me what the time delay relay is for and why it's necessary? Curiosity has the best of me!! :noidea:

WM that looks awesome! I thought iboats offered a switch that had the pushbutton built in for the horn? that's the one i'm going to buy for my build. How do you like the switch panel itself?

I do own a fishing boat and i'm also curious to know about the time delay switch or potentiometer, whatever it is!

The delay on the aerator pump is so it will cycle off and on with an automatic interval 1 to 12 min between cycles so it doesn't run all the time. Here's the link to the Flow rite site https://flow-rite.com/products/marin...-timers/ma-104

The switch panel is well built with good quality with fuses but there isn't a push momentary button for a horn is all. It's not like you use a horn much but having the push button for it is nice. Only negative are the labels that come with the panel, the adhesive on them is weak.

Love the dash WM. I would need some faux wood grain or at least faux stainless/ engine turn decals to break up the all black motif. I'm sure you have already gone round and round on that though. You aren't one to just do. I'd bet you had half the boat planned out before purchase. Lol

Yeah Pat I thought long and hard about doing something like that but was leaning towards the carbon fiber look vinyl wrap stuff as I'm not much on the fake wood look. Then I started thinking about what ever I put on there going bad in the sun and starting to get UV damage and or peel up after 3 or 4 years. Then I thought about an AL panel insert. Decided to not worry about it and leave it as is since it's a boat that will get used hard as a fishing boat I tend to lean more towards adding more rivets, angle brackets, braces and such. In fact I have some more rivets to add through the hull to extend the front deck brackets back to the consoles which sucks since it's painted. Oh well maybe I can touch them up with paint if I feel like it.

I've been trying to recover the stock steering wheel but the glue used on the spoke inserts is welded into the plastic so I'll be popping on a new wheel. Maybe one with some stainless to break up all the black.

I figured you had been down that road. Maybe spray the gauge area with some grey. Or just leave it lol. About the bad switch stickers, I remember Jason had some stainless washers etched by a trophy guy that came out pretty nice. Any room for something like that?

Oh boy I would love some of that Pacific influence weather that we normally have. Something tells me this didn't come from the south off the ocean.

At least our 30 - 40 MPH winds died down today.
