Btw, y'all do realize you don't have to live in a meat locker, right? It still chilly down here, but at leas all the temps have a (+) sign in front of them

This is crazy!! 17 degrees right now. One hose bibb froze last night. Got it thawed out with a hair dryer.
Going to be 74 on Saturday! Boating anyone?

worst part for me is I moved back up here from FL last year. really questioning that decision right now. LOL

It's all part of our 5 seasons here in VT

Winter - our longest season usually 6-7 months long
Spring - not long enough
Mud - Yes, it's a season here where we stock up on washer fluid since there is mud everywhere
Summer - what a beautiful two weeks
Fall - OMG the tourists out number the residents 2:1

We bounced the bottom at right about 0? last night. Started climbing this morning. We're through 28? for the 40's by tomorrow.

Surprising how that kinda' cold was handled down here. Lotsa' problems I was surprised at.

One saving grace - it's day two of perfect pond hockey conditions here in the Pine Barrens of NJ. One more day of skating, then rain and 50s forecast for weekend, Wtf?

Rain Rain and more rain. We got over 70" last year. Rains about every couple of days. Beats the long drought we went through but it does make you feel gloomy and not want to do much. Lakes and rivers are still over flowing. Made it through the hard freeze okay. I read an article that showed where we used to get hard freezes about every 4 years up until 1997. Then we went 17 years with no very low temp National averages. Back in 1983 the National average was 6 degrees lower than the recent freeze. I remember it being well below Zero here in 1983 for at least on day. So this was by far not the coldest ever weather event

Daughter said parents were showing up in stocking caps, gloves, winter coats,....calling the school to see if school was cancelled due to the cold weather.

Wooo!
It was -8 today! I even went up on the roof to fix some shingles. Have to do it again when its warm but I think the roof is water tight again.
On another note, there seems to be an outbreak of H5N1 flu around here. Some young healthy people have died. And there is no more flu vaccine.

Well, they cancelled school in the general area here on Tuesday when the overnight low was -8 and it was -3 at 7 am. Daytime high went to 12. Normal winter conditions around here. Maybe they should cancel school until April.
