Re: The search for a free (or nearly free) Starcraft!

Hey neighbor, I'll bet we can find you something around here. I stumble across a lot of Starcrafts in our neck of the woods. I'd go 16 or 18 for LSC, 14 footer is my favorite to fish from but it can get a little rough out there.

16 will fit in the garage, 18 won't. 14' will limit the days and where you fish on the lake, easy to tow and launch though. They are practically giving away 18 footers these days, I see them all over.

Jas, Mike, unleash the hounds (Cl Junkies), let's find this guy a Starcraft.

I have a 5 year old house with a standard size garage and my 18 fits.

Isn't a standard garage 20'? Maybe I'll try to fit mine in with the I/O removed. Storing outside sucks! I'm building a new garage next year.

My garage is 24 X 24 if I didn't have a work bench on the back wall could have probably fit my 18 without cutting tongue off trailer. I honestly never knew there was a garage sizing standard so mine may be superior:D

That's a good deal. It has the upgraded anniversary interior like mine had, so it's a '79. Might have pour in foam in it .

Look how low it sits on that trailer.....

oh, i just noticed it says it's an '84. I didn't think that hockey stick stripe was around in the '80's...

I agree, it sure looks like a '79 to me...they offered the 16' SS in yellow, blue and grey that year.

Unless someone did a spectacular job ridding my boat of any evidence of pour-in foam I don't think the 16' rigs came with it(not that I'm complaining):D

What is the anniversary interior all about?

Somewhere in the brochures is mention of an anniversary interior in '79. It's the ones with all the individual cushions and all those stylish buttons everywhere......

I found it...it wasn't an anniversary thing, it was a "new for '79 two-tone, cushion on cushion look seat"

1979 16's did not come with pour in foam. I have the 1979 Starcraft original info books they show that only fiberglass Starcrafts came with pour in foam. all tinnys came with sheet foam.

now you have a 22' correct.. I only stated that all 16' tinnys came with sheet foam.. not 18' or bigger... let me refase that then.. 1979 Starcraft books shows that 1979 16' Aluminum has a sheet style floatation foam. also shows that outboards came with a leveling flotation foam as well.

I was just messing with ya.....LOL

I am very interested in the books you have, could you give more details about what kind of info they provide? Are they more detailed than the brochures?

Re: The search for a free (or nearly free) Starcraft!

Still a decent deal regardless of foam if it had a motor I might consider crossing the bridge:D Without one it really seems to me a person would be better off spending a bit more on a full package as its a full resto without motor (assuming floor is shot if transom is). So on second thought not so sure its that great of a deal.:confused:I've seen quite a few 16 footers in the 1200-1500 range (and cheaper) complete and running (supposedly) so add in the cost of motor and controls hmmmmmmm
