You, the giver of knowledge;
You, the imparter of wisdom;
You, who brought light to darkness;
To you, O iBoat Mentor, Sail On.

You moulded clay to perfection.
You tended the plant to fruition.
You saved the petals from thorns.
To you, O iBoat Mentor, Sail On.

You sacrificed for others
And made them grow beyond you.
You acted as a role model.
To you, O iBoat Mentor, Sail On.

You lived a frugal, simple life,
Enriching that of others.
You guarded values and morals.
To you, O iBoat Mentor, Sail On.

Don S.
SAIL ON!!!

Re: The passing of Don S

Since I first learned of this, I've been looking for the right words, but they won't come. Here's what I know:

1. Far too few people in this world had the privelege to meet Don, talk to him or learn from him.

2. Many, Many, Many boats will go unrepaired, improperly maintained or otherwise never be "right."

3. I wonder if he knew just how many lives he touched? (imagine how much knowledge he shared here that was transferred by mouth and so on, and so on. or the kids whose weekend wasn't spoiled because Uncle Don from far away helped dad diagnose a bad starter, etc. or the probably thousands upon thousands of people who read his posts or will in the future without ever registering at iBoats)

4. The boats in heaven run WAAAAAY better now.

+1. I was dead on the water last year and Don saved my family vacation by helping me (via my phone while I was actually on the water) fix a major electrical problem.

Don was the best. He straighten me out more than once on both engines and posting. He will be missed.

I got a funny visual of St. Peter grabbin' Don at the gate, "Hey Don! So, I got this Merc Bravo ... " :D

Good stuff Musky.

Hilarious...

My best friend is a painter and that's what he said. "They'll probably let me in, but make me spend eternity painting the fence"

I cant help but thinking of his signature...While I can assure this is not the actual quote it went something like this

Why is there never enough time to do it right....Well Don you were spot on. I wish you were here to view this thread...it is apparent you did do it right the first time... a testament to how you lived and lived well indeed.

Don, You are so deeply missed my internet friend, Thanks for teaching me what I thought I already knew about boats but soon realized I had a lot to learn. May you rest in peace.:(

This saddens me to hear. I'm sure I'm going to miss his post much the same way I still miss spinnerbait's and tashasdaddy's today.

Though never speaking to him directly, he answered many of my questions thru his prior posts, and I learned the solutions to my issues are all there for the taking, if I just look for them.

May he live forever thru Iboats forums.

Re: The passing of Don S

I haven't been on in a while and just got the news and felt the need to post on here and pay my respect.

Because of advice I've received on here, I can't tell you how much more time I've spent on the water because I was able to quickly repair the boat myself instead of it waiting at a repair shop for weeks. (not to mention how much money I've saved)

I think we all need to be better at coming back to our posts, tell the people who gave us advice what the problem was, and thank them for their help. It is because of people like DonS we are able to spend more time doing what we love, boating.

It's funny how we all get to know each other from message boards even though we never meet in person. I believe it was Tashasdaddy who organized get togethers. He is missed too.

DonS will be missed by all of us. Thank you Don, for all of your help, for caring, and allowing me to be on the water.
