Re: The passing of Don S

I just learned of Don's passing today; I hadn't been on the forum for a while. I will miss his wit, his knowledge, his intelligence, and his patience. My heart goes out to his family and friends. I count myself among the latter even though we never actually met. His advice helped me through more than one jam and reading his postings increased my knowledge and often brought a smile to my face. Rest in peace, my friend. Hy

Re: The passing of Don S

I have been away from here for a while. Just found this today.
What the Hell?!?!
He was one of the very few guys on here who's mind "clicked" like mine does.
Clear, concise replies and instructions. Every time I read one of his posts my mind did a "just follow the directions" kinda thing.
Gonna miss you Don.

Re: The passing of Don S

I have not been all that active on this forum lately but I am very sorry to come here and read this news.

Don was a real no nonsense kind of guy. His drive to help people was unbelievable. While we all know he had little patience for anyone who didn't want to fix things the right way, he never stopped trying to help anyone who would come here. I'd be lying if I didn't admit that Don rubbed me the wrong way more than a few times but while I may not have always liked what he had to say, it was quite the rare day that Don was ever wrong about anything. I am truly thankful for the ridiculous amount of boating knowledge that I have gained from Don. He made me a better boater and I'm sure that many of the boaters that I come across every season are also in that same boat (pun intended).

WOW!! I'm blown away! I've been absent from the board for the past while dealing with my own health issues and trying to enjoy the summer with my family. Don helped me out on a couple of things and his knowledge was unsurpassed on most issues that happen to boats and their drives and engines. HE WILL BE MISSED!! RIP my friend, may your family take solace in knowing that you were a great person, giving your time and knowledge to complete strangers.

That is sad news to me I was just working with him few weeks before. Now I know why he did not get back to me the last time I talked to him. He will be missed by anyone that was lucky enough to get his help. I wish his family my deepest condolences.

I don't get on here as often as I used to, but I just can't believe this. Shocked and saddened. He touched so many, and the replies here are ongoing proof of that. He left everyone here much wiser, myself included. Dearly missed.

I am shocked to hear this. I too have been away for a while, and my boat has been running flawlessly thanks to Don and this forum. While some of his replies may have seemed harsh at times, there was never any question that his heart was in the right place, and he always took the time to explain and add pictures where needed. He will be dearly missed by all of us.

RIP Don, my condolences to your family.

I've been away for a bit as well and was shocked to hear this.
When I first joined iboats I was amazed at how much technical documentation was authored by Don.
His tremendous contributions to this forum will be regarded for many years to come.

Re: The passing of Don S

I just looked through the posts I have put up for help, on 70% or more of them Don S. had chimed in. What an incredibly helpful selfless person he must have been. He usually posted within minutes of me putting up a question. I could never thank him enough.
I hope his family takes at least a little comfort in the fact that so many on here are so grateful to Don, and we miss him too.
thank you Don. Rest in Peace. God's boat is running top notch now I am sure!!..
