Re: Tahoe No Haggle, No Hassle Prices

Hi everyone. I just picked up a 2008 Tahoe Q4 SS from the BPS here in Memphis. I know a few people who have Tahoe's and love everything about them, so it was really a no-brainer for me. My only concern was the 3.0L mercruiser, but with the $$ I had saved for the boat, I could not afford anything more. I'm not a speeed freak, and will only be pulling my three kids around, so the 3.0L should do a great job. I might get on a kneeboard occasionally, but that's about it.

Hoping to take her out to Beechlake this weekend and start breaking in the engine. Looking forward to summer.

Great forum. Good information.

Hi Valcycle,

Welcome to iBoats.

Congratulations on your new boat purchase, too! Despite what you may read here about Tahoe boats, I have had no problems and am sure you too will enjoy your new boat. I suggest you get invest in a good stainless steel prop. I got the Merc. Enertia and found it to be a perfect match. Also, thinking of installing some trim tabs in future.

Let us know how your maiden voyage goes.

I would love to find one of these boat manufacturers who have never received a complaint. Do you seriously believe that Tahoe could stay in business if everything they built was such crap???

From what I have read, Tahoe or any of the related parties have yet to do anything wrong. It is a shame that the process is so long, but that is life.

Valkcycle, congrats on the purchase...as a new Tahoe owner as well, I look forward to hearing some boating stories from you.

Yea but when there are page after page of complaints with the same structural problems. Cracks in the hull, stringers pushing thru. I think Tahoe has a serious engineering problem. BoatUS list four pages almost all boats with the same Structure problems. Just my two cents. Thats why I said in the previous post read and reach your own conclusion. Like someone else said Tahoe makes Bayliner look good. Before I would invest 20-30k for a boat I sure would do my homework. With over 7500 Boat owners watching Tahoe closely in just two of the many Forums. They have a lot riding on their warranty decisions and how they treat their customers.

All I've seen on here is one thread with one owner who had a problem. And page after page after page of people jumping on a bandwagon. Give it a rest.

Man...this guys persistent!...He won't let up. He must have had some bad experience with Tracker Marine or just have a personal vendetta against them.

TD...We all try to keep it civil but when we get guys like this, what else are we to do? We love our Tahoe boats and haven't had any go wrong with it so why is he so persistent.

Better be careful...you might be accused of being a Tahoe spy infiltrating the board like I am currently accused of over on that thread...

Personally, here in Tulsa, I am mega excited about spending the summer on the lake on my Tahoe...I know several Tahoe owners in this area who love their boats.

Yeah, I love my Tahoe too.

Too bad Chuck doesn't have anything better to do with his life than to try to bring them down. I mean IF he owned one and was having issues, I could listen to what he is saying and have some sympathy for him. But he DOESN'T own one. Therefore, it is my humble opinion that he should just stay out of the Tahoe forums and leave us the hell alone. But my saying something won't make him go away, I mean he posted his latest negative and disruptive comments even after a Mod got involved. They need an ignore button on these boards.

I'll let you guys know how everything goes on Sunday. Too bad we're going to have some pretty crummy weather, but I really want to start breaking in the engine. Come summer, I want her ready to go. Hopefully Sunday will be high 50's, low 60's, so it won't be too bad. Have a great weekend everyone.

Sounds like there may be a resolution to the infamous thread about Tahoe...maybe now that Tahoe is making it right, people will back down with the bashing.

I don't know why some are so shocked that Tahoe is making it right...it stinks that it took so long, but I was never really in doubt that things would be resolved.

Thanks Bama for taking the side of your fellow Tahoe owners. I would be willing to bet my new Tahoe that we won't see nearly the number of backpedalers saying they were wrong as we saw the number of bandwagon jumpers screaming for revenge.

While communication could have certainly improved the situation, I agree that they aren't just going to jump up and throw a new boat at everyone who makes a complaint about workmanship. Things like this take time as we saw.

Yeah...tell me about it...some over there are seriously convinced that I am a Tahoe plant trying to protect the company.

I am glad they are making it right...or at least making progress...but some people will never be satisfied.

I purchased from a dealer instead of BPS to avoid the customer service complaints that I have heard about BPS...I am a new owner, but so far so good.

I did the same thing except I was looking at Gander Mountain instead of BPS. Must be the big box places. I went back to GM after I bought my Tahoe and the sales manager asked if I was ready to buy yet. I told him I had already bought the boat I wanted with the options I wanted from a local dealer. He was like yeah, I don't blame you, we are having a hard time getting the boats we want, hope you don't have any hard feelings. I told him I didn't, this was business.

Do you use your Frontier to pull your Tahoe? I was thinking of downsizing trucks, but I like having all the power the Titan has.

Yes, I use my Frontier. I have the NISMO package with the factory towing package. It is rated for 6,000lbs. Dry weight on the Q7i is just over 3,000lbs. Fully fueled and with gear I estimate that I am still just shy of 4,000. I don't know if I would tow cross country with it, but it works great for me in Oklahoma.

I love the Titans...but I need something I can fit in my garage...too much hail in this area.

I hope you Tahoe lovers never have to go through what I am. Then again maybe I do have the worst boat ever built by Tahoe. I loved this boat and kept it well cared for. I've now owned it 26 months and it's been in Bass Pro Shop/Tracker custody for almost 8 months for repairs.
Make sure you baby your Tahoe's because if they break you'll definetly be enjoying the water from shore (for at least the 4 months it takes them to fix something).

Hey Baineyg...you've definitely had some horrible luck and you are certainly more patient than the average person. I truly hope Tahoe makes this right and you don't have any future problems.

I don't know if your situation is an true indication of BPS or Tahoe service or not. I would like to think not. I know plenty of people with a Tahoe that have had no problems...and I know people who have had bad luck with other brands.

Anyway...thanks for keeping everyone posted on your situation and good luck.
