That is a Beauty!! I have a few questions if you dont mind... What did you do to the gunnels? They look awesome! Also, what did you use to polish the aluminum trim?

Gunnels - not sure what you mean - the inside? I wrapped the plywood with additional seat vinyl - easy and looks great.

As far as the exteiror - I think the last I used was a "WAP" product. There is heavy and fine - there is really no other way than to excercise your arms...Shark Hyde is another Aluminum polish - I haven't tried it yet - if you are going to try to polish my suggestion is to strip the paint very lightly - do not ever sand or use mechanical means to get the paint off - then eat some spinach so your arms are like Popeyes!

Gunnels are side panels. Just a nautical name. I didn't know either till I did mine. They do look great. I didn't get mine stretched that tight. Did you glue, or staple. I used staples, but have been wondering if glue might have been better.

I sprayed the plywood with 3m spray adhesive - maybe 7500 - got another set of hands and stretched the vinyl over then stapled. The key is use all 4 of your hands!

I just staples, and after a week or two it was loose again. Thanks for the hint for next time.

Dusting off the old thread as I am doing the unthinkable - the Holiday is going to become open bow! As with certain things in life - there have been technological advances since 1968 - and one is the open bow. I am not going to move the windshield as far back as the SS's though as I think the dash farther up = better lines:

Typically you see the dash all the way back to the start of the middle rubrail - I have loosened the windsheild - pulled the tape out and I am going to move it back about 8-10 inches - which I actually think looks better than the Holiday placement.

I gotta say I was full of trepidation whipping out the buzz saw to chop the top off - but here she is. I plan to try to make things as "stock" as possible - I think the bigger challenge will be forming the aluminum angle to meet the inside curve. The above work doesn't involve a whole lot of technology but I will try to show step by step.

Other off season tweaks will include a stereo and I might redo the floor vinyl.

1. I enjoy working on them as much as using them
2. Was thinking of another project - in which case I would sell her and the market for closed bows - no matter how cool they are - is minimal!:(
3. I really like the boat - it runs fantastic mechanically - so this will keep me busy and I think it will be less than $500 actually.:D
4. I really want to be just like CBK:facepalm:
