Re: Starcraft on clist!

I live three blocks away from the leading Yamaha and Suzuki dealer. in wash State . I see lots of boats with big power. Mostly Grady Whites and Ospray and larger. I do not think a Starcraft that we like could handle all that weight even with reinforcment and stay safe in the water,. Not onough boat weight to support tha kind of load. However I guess I will just have to spend the 50 thousand those motors would cost on something else.

Remember this one.... well tomorrow morning I am en-route for the offer on the table of $500.00. If the motor tests go poorly, then offer goes down or I turn around. If the motor test go well then I will OFFICIALLY have my second Starcraft (and I havent even started restoring the SS!)! This boat MAY be my donor (90 Horse moving to the SS) for the motor but then... maybe move it to my inlaws in Duluth MN, find another 100+HP OB, FINISH SS (Need to remind myself of this), then restore this and HELLO LK Superior Fishing! :D

WE will see what happens tomorrow...

Good luck!! My friend and I just missed out on one that exact boat (with a 115) last year. It was a real nice one too. He ended up just buying a 21'. I think we would have been better off with the 18'.

16' SS in Milwaukee area, no motor--$395, -why are the good deals at least 200 miles away?

Trick a friend into coming on your little excursion and drive. Road trips can be very cool, just check the bearings in the trailer before a long trip.

Starcrafts congargate around big waters guys, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Florida. Along the oceans a bit too.

Michigan is one of the top 3 states for boat registration. I live a couple miles away from "Nautical Mile". It's a stretch of road from 9 Mile Rd. to 10 Mile Rd along Jefferson Ave, which borders Lake St. Clair. This is the largest concentration of boats anywhere in the USA. Marina after marina after marina. It's unbeleivable. I don't need to go far to find anything marine!

Florida has tons of registered boats too, #1 or #2. If you live on a penninsula and own a Starcraft you are the coolest.:D

I just looked it up;
1. Michigan 1,003,947

2. California 957,463

3. Florida 902,964

4. Minnesota 826,048

5. Texas 621,244

6. Wisconsin 575,920

7. New York 526,190

8. Ohio 414,658

9. South Carolina 382,072

10. Illinois 369,626

11. Pennsylvania 359,525

12. North Carolina 353,560

13. Missouri 335,521

14. Georgia 327,026

15. Louisiana 322,779

16. Mississippi 300,970

17. Alabama 262,016

18. Washington 260,335

19. Tennessee 256,670

20. Virginia 240,509

No idea on the model but the sterndrive could be either OMC or Mercruiser.

Wasn't trying to brag, just to say how lucky I am. The Great Lakes are about all Michigan has right now. Even my beloved Wolverine football program is down.:(

My point was, sometimes you need to go where the boats are. Starcrafts are very popular around the G. Lakes. You might have to drive a bit to get what your looking for. More boats = more oppurtunities.

I graduated from Wheaton Central High School, BTW. Wheaton was a cool place for a kid to grow up in the 70's. Corn fields are all gone now though.
