Oh electric shift? I think dad had one of those . Push button shifting?

In some cases yes, push button. IIRC, some were actuated by the throttle lever, but there were still electric solenoids in the lower that did the actual shifting

Yeah I remember his thread, bummer it sure didn't take long to loose interest in the old gal.

^^^ How much do people think these old tin boats are worth in scrap? I'd bet its less then $200 in scrap value.

really...if the boat was stripped of all s/s, wood , carpet and plastic....an 18 footer might weigh 400 lbs......and at an ideal price of .55 /pound for 5052.......you are looking at only $220.......and truth is most consumer end junk yards would try to pay even less...

55c per pound would be great. Last quote I got for dirty aluminum was 18c a pound. Prices are low at the moment.

I would imagine so - shocks too perhaps, but even so, it's still well priced......here's hoping to see a new Chief restoration thread by the end of next weekend.

Project boat already stripped and ready for reassembly. Rivets included. $450.

I'd be tempted myself but simply can't justify another project. Not without frying pan prints upside my haid!

18' with clear title... a rarity here in Florida!

Project Boat - Make Offer !
I have an original Starcraft here that has been stripped-down and ready to be put back together. I have all the major parts to get this craft back on the water. Great project -- finish what I started. The hull is in good shape -- I've pulled 100+ rivets, and I'll give you the bag of new rivets. I have the windshield and the bow-top cover, the gunwales, all the trim pieces, etc.... to get this boat back together. I have the serial plate and original boat plates and a clear title in-hand. Those whom know Starcraft will appreciate this boat. I will not separate parts -- its all or nothing.
All this boat needs is paint, decking, transom, & fuel tank.
The trailer is in poor condition but will allow you to tow it where you need it.

I started this project myself, but due to an accident I am unable to physically finish it. I could scrap it for the value of aluminum, but I'd rather see it go so someone who might finish it.

That is just an old fiberglass scow and the reason it's free is because it's garbage.

350 HP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that thing must get up and go!!!

bob

LMAO a rather stock looking MC 888 and new is 188 HP. It would cost 1000's to get 350 HP out of that motor. But hey they popped for a chrome air filter and tossed out the flame arrestor.
