I guess I could deal with the eventual sale of the Islander.

UM - is this your tinny, Andy?

Yes, I wanted to get the thread's opinion on what I should do and if the price is fair, but was flagged for "selling". Interesting that we are allowed to advertise other's c-list posts but not get advice on our own sales. I guess they need to protect the revenue stream of I-boats.

Basically I put a lot of love into this project, now I have two babies and never get on the water. I took my wife on one of our first dates in a year and it blew a hole in the top cyl. with no warning 1/4 mile from the dock. She has sold me on taking a loss to get a new project and/or boat in a few years that all four of us would be more comfortable in.

I would like to sell the motor or parts to buy time, but would part with it all in one shot to rip off the band-aid. Let me know your stories on selling these and what you would do in my shoes to get it to someone that would appreciate it. Thanks :)

Hey Dauber....

Unfortunately, here in the Midwest there are a bunch of those 60's/70's vintage boats around. Plus, it's the end of the summer. Plus, you have a closed bow. Plus, you have a parts motor.

So, all together that will be a tough sell. I'd be thinking maybe $500ish on a really good day.

Sorry man, I know that is a tough pill to swallow - but that's our market around here.

No worries, that is what I was starting to realize. I have been looking and see a lot of them for 7-900 with good motors, but poor condition. I think I am better off parting out the motor and waiting for a good deal on a used 50hp to get it back on the water. The only part that sucks is smoking a $1400 rebuilt 70hpo merc. We think it was a combination of lean carb, bad gas, and the water pump stopping at the same time. Good reminder to use fresh gas and make sure your pump is pushing water on those old outboards.

I've never sean a MR21 in person, couple of ?s on the MR21
1.is the drivers seat a cooler underneath? if yes where is it drained? if no doe's a medium sized cooler fit inside the box? or is this seat just dry storage? or do you just slide a cooler under the seat?

2.why doe's this boat have two batterys?I only forsee electricalley powering electric starter for motor, bilge pumps, lights. and I assume power trim.

3. the hole in the bow just above the casting /storage platform is this the anchor storage?
Thanks STB

Looks like the motor has power trim based on how it it tilted but not all the way up.

The captains chair might be set for a cooler, but more likely is a live well. They would both drain to the bilge. I added a flip bench seat to mine that was a live well setup but it's used a dry storage. A cooler would fit in it.

Mine has 2 batteries, main under the splashwell - Motor, tilt, nav lights, bilge pump, 1 fish finder. The other is under the center console and runs another fish finder, marine radio, 12V Aux, stereo.

Should be anchor storage up front.

We really love our Mariner 21. for us it's a great multi-purpose boat.

Salt and Tin boats can be bad so make sure you take a good hard look for corrosion.

$900 offers should only be looking at 16' boats*according to him!

Some sellers amaze me with their rude and condescending ads, does he think he is doing people a favor by listing this. If someone offered him $900 for that POS he should consider himself lucky. People who refuse text/email also annoy me (unless they don't have access to it).

Who is this?

Glad to see your still alive and on patrol.

I have not been on here most of the summer... busy with several hobbies including running the Mariner and a bout of medical issues kinda kept me hopping. But im back! :) Starting to plan the deck tear down...

Here is a 1962 16' for $900

Re: Starcraft on C-list/ebay!

The sliding (?) hardtop Chieftain was posted a while back, but I don't remember the price. That butchered, trashed Chief isn't worth $900, let alone a grand. IMHO

And welcome back to the fold, 73.

EDIT - Looked closer at the ad. The trailer is FUBAR. See how it's kinked ahead of the wheels.
