1972 Starcraft all original

I know ill be shunned for posting this but its pretty nice for a glasser

The posting of a glasser can be forgiven in certain circumstances. This however is not one of those times. 7500 bucks for a 1972 glasser with 10 hours on it probably means the motor and boat are decayed to the point of uselessness, no matter how pretty they look. It may be red but it is no Ferrari.

Seriously, the seller is nuts asking so much. WOW!

Hmmm, located in NWI.

NWIllinois?

NWisconsin?

NWIndiana ? Ding Ding. It is located in Indiana if anyone is interested. 8 hour drive from here. hmmmm.

Looks like a nice trailer, and boat begging to be rebuilt.
looks like he doe'snt know it's a V5. I would like to see the capcity lable.

wonder if it comes w/ a homemade console or not? or the OB controls.

I kindof like the hieghtened bow is this for Duck hunters or to keep folks in boat dry?

if I was selling a boat I'd include details.

I'm wanting a 1989 or older MR21 not sure if the extra 250Lbs w/ the V5 and extra 5" transome height is whorth it.

OK, been working with this fella, again...

26 ft Starcraft islander "TRADE"

Getting nowhere. He wants $3500 for a boat that needs a total rebuild, running a 470 driveline, sitting on a junk trailer that's way too short (the bow of the boat would go right through the rear window of my Burb going up the driveway). He doesn't really seem to be budging either.

How can anyone that knows anything (even just a little) about a trailer & boats look at this hull/trailer combo & think: 'Good to go...'

and for $3500? ouch.......
Somebody needs a
realitycheck.gif
cause I'm a rookie about both & I can clearly tell the trailer is significantly undersized (maybe overloaded too ....)

It sticks past the coupler under the bow & appears to hang past the rollers at the stern.... Parked lake front & launched w/ a 4wheeler?

What a PITA seller...... Sorry.

Hey Jas. I see this one is in Atlanta. Want me to go visit and administer a reality check? :)

Nice skeg on that Chrysler

Tinnies have such a shallow draft a long normal looking glasser skeg isn't needed. ;)

my take.....is this...there is only ONE hope diamond!!, and even if it falls into the mud.... it is still rare.. and if someone wants it, its sellers market. THAT islander HULL is arguably the premier hull from that maker. The V5 hull at 26 feet!!! realistically how many will ever come up for sale??? if ONE per year , id say that would be incredible...at least one per year you could find( not everyone uses craigslist!!) it needs a cleaning up and some tidying....and a new trailer...but a savy guys flips the one he has and gets into another one that fits with little trouble.... it is a prized HULL in decent shape... I think he is where he needs to be as a seller. besides it has $100 worth of lures hanging in it!!!!.......................bob

Yah, thanks dood!:becky:

Yah Bob, for me that's "The One", my personal holy grail ya know.

But, spend $3500, sell the trailer and driveline for $500, that bare hull isn't worth $3K. Not in my world anyway. Even if I were a rich man I couldn't cough up that much.

That's been for sale for a while now. A year + maybe? Your average boater guy, big water fisherman won't want anything to do with it. Only the wierdos that hang around here would be all right with working through that project. Or, somebody who has no idea what their getting might grab it.

Re: Starcraft on C-list/ebay!

jas, is that big Islander specifically your ideal hull? You'd prefer that over one of the big Chief's? Just wondering.

My ideal hull would be that $8k SS earlier with the big 235 on it. Want Want Want! I guess I would like to have something to overnight on someday. Not sure if that would be a Starcraft.

Yup, that's it, that's the one I want. If I stumbled across a 26' Chief I'd be all about that too. But if I had my choice, I'd rather have the deck space over cabin space.

I sure hope one comes along someday. I'll be patient:becky:

That's a big part of it. Having a boat that doesn't fit in my garage would be a bit of a game changer as far as my boating goes. Although, I put mine in a storage yard over the winters anyway to get it out of my way so I suppose I could just do that all year. I'd still have to really consider what I could do with a 22' that I can't do with my 18'. It would certainly ride better on the bay but how often do I really do that. My 18' is ideal for 90% of the boating I do.
