Looks like a Holiday?? It's a half hour from me and I finally have a little money saved up. I was thinking about offering 1200 for it, any thoughts on it's value????

I'm going Saturday morning to take a look at this one. It's an 18' Holiday. I'll see how much I can talk him down.

Re: Starcraft on clist!

I haven't seen it in person. But where are you going to get a 21' boat for that price? It's been up for a while so I'm sure you could snatch it up for less.
Has anyone on the forum looked at this boat in person?
Deciding if it's worth the drive and/or price. I'm looking for any input.
Thanks.

He may be, but he also has a lot of old mechanics with him.;)

Yes, the OMC stringer mechanics who went to an early grave trying to make them work.

Yeah sounds like he took good care of it, he lives a couple blocks from the lake so I'm hoping for a water test. I think a 4.3 Alpha one would be sweet . I think it would be scary fast though :D:D.

That about sums it up for me. $20k USED!

Big advantage for us: Ours will be waranteed by the builder for as long as we own them, right? Who buying a new boat can say that?

Sweet rig but just another reminder why we do what we do...

http://saginaw.craigslist.org/boa/2578314272.html

Very nice boat, but doesn't compare to the 18, which is longer, wider, and much higher off the water.

Most folks sell a late model boat for a few main reasons:

They hit the motherlode and upgrade?
They don't use it enough to warrant the expense?
They realize the cost of ownership extends well beyond the payment.

That said, I rehab cheap tinnies for all the reasons above, and the following:

If you can look at your seldom used boat sitting in the driveway or garage and realize you owe
nobody, and your investment is more of time and sweat, and you can be on the water that cheap and achieve similar results, then great!!

But, if I won the lottery?????????????????????????

I would have a GW Gulfstream on Erie, and a Ranger Reata for trailering and flexibility. The Reata actually works well on Erie for walleye trolling, the GW would be a ****-a-round, and I would keep my 1979 SS18.4 for fun.

i was thinking of taking myself to small claims court for the crappy job I did on my deck!

I spit out my drink on my laptop. LOL. I'll be there soon enough, kicking myself for not doing this way or that.

Funny thing...

I searched high and low for a ridiculous cheap Starcraft Chief/Islander. I found this one for sale on clist, northern MI. I emailed a hundred times, no response. By the time I actually talked to the fella I had already grabbed the Islander.

That boat is actually kept here in Midland now. If it was a big 24 footer I'd prolly go grab it;)
