Re: Skeeter owners

Did I get a good deal? I picked up a 1989 Skeeter, 19 foot, SF 175 DF, with a Yamaha 175. It already has a foot controlled Motorguide troll motor. All I have done to it was put new carpet in it and replaced the tilt/trim motor. I picked it up for $2,500. Is that a good price?

1992 Skeeter SS90 w/ Mariner 75 HP 2 stroke,power trim, SS prop.

Cool little boat, fishes decent in average lakes and does around 40 mph plus or minus (load depending). Its my first Skeeter but im totally impressed with their aggressive hull design for a boat that old. It gets compliments no matter where I go. Just had the seat reupholstered so its looking good again.

This little boat has opened my eyes to Skeeter. I will buy another without a doubt.

Re: Skeeter owners

Just picked up my first Super Skeeter. A 1965 classic. I don't even know if the motor runs. It's a 75hp Mcculloch.

The dark spot on the side is where I pollished it up. Great finish under all that oxidation.

Total package was $125

Looks nice. Here are some pics of mine at the dealer where I bought her. The pics are of the advertisement when they were selling her. I bought her 2 days after seeing the pics.

I have a '92 Skeeter SS90 also, with a Nissan 90. I'm guessing it gets 45mph with my wide rear and a full tank. The old trolling motor was junk, just got a new one in (Minn Kota Edge 40lb).

How does your livewells work? Is that a bait well in the front? A few wires were disconnected when I took out the old trolling motor. I'm looking for wiring diagrams, etc so I can get everything back together with the new trolling motor after New Year's.

I'm very impressed with this Skeeter too, very solid boat. I'm a Skeeter guy now.

Re: Skeeter owners

I bought a 1985 strada F80 in march,it has a Mercury 1974 850 85hp.It is suppose to have a 80hp maxium on it,will it hurt to have a 5hp more motor on it? The motor seems to run good.also i changed the prop,it had a 2 blade brass prop when i got it.I replaced it with a 3 blade SS flo thu lightning prop with a 19" pitch, that i had on a Mercury 2004 90hp that everything matched by I Boats, will this be alright? The motor runs good until i open it up wide, then it bogs down and quits.can someone help me? THANKS

Re: Skeeter owners

Technically your over powered also tecnnically your motor is rated at the power head
so your at the prop power is about 80hp.C; 1985 motors were rated at the prop
so maybe your motor is a match for your 1985 boat.No way to know how your prop will do without details about the boat and your max rpm and speed with the original prop and the size of original prop.I really think you will be better off posting your prop Q in the prop forum and your motor Q in the Merc forum. As far as the bogging I would guess a weak fuel supply but could also be an over heat again more details.

Hi! I was bouncing around here and noticed your thread. I'm a new old skeeter owner. Just picked up an '87 Wrangler hp 150 with the original Yamaha 115 2-stroker out back. My kid brother and I took her out to give her a test run and drown a couple of worms along the way, and she came through very nicely. Gonna need a bit of work to get it back to 100%, but nothing really major. some replacement guages, new weatherstripping (any ideas?), and possibly reinforcing the front deck after the summer. The trailer however (original), is in my humble opinion, a turd. But it gets it from A to B until I can upgrade. All in all though, I thoroughly enjoy this boat, and can't wait to take the kids out. Any pics or reviews on particular models/engines?

Hey there. Just thought I'd tell ya that is really pretty, and in my opinion, probably perfect for just about whatever you feel like getting into. There's just something classy about that design. Good Luck!

Yup I got myself "THE PRICE IS RIGHT" Skeeter SS-140 1996. A lady won it on the price is right and she didnt want it so she sold it to my buddy and he just upgraded so I got a killer deal on it so I jumped on it. The price was right!

Just picked up a 1998 Skeeter ZX202c, with the Yamaha Vmax 200.
Also picked up the Minn kota Terrova trolling motor with the I-Pilot.
