caution this could be a scam to get all of us to give up our secret fishing baits with the hope to get an even better secret bait.
I all ready gave up mine for rainbow trout.
I have tried cat food but could not get it stay on the hook. The bait they feed hatcher trout smells like cat food to me.
I guess you could mix canned cat food with something to create a paste that would stick on a hook. I think I am going to try it. Anyone already a receip for the mixture.

Use spawn sac netting or cheesecloth to make little flavor wads out of trout pellets. Works well in combination with heavy chumming. Those hatchery fish come running!

This is why it is a secret, it is so simple simple simple and yet no one has mentioned it.

I like to hear what others are using but I doubt it is as enticing as what I use.

Like I said, when the right guess comes in I will reveal the secret and how to rig it up, you will all be scratching your head thinking, no way.

It would not surprise me if some of you use it now.

Caught a bunch this year on corn..nothing on salmon eggs...years ago i caught one on a piece of slim jim.

Hands down the best trout and salmon bait I've ever found is their own eggs. When I catch a trout or salmon with eggs, I bag and freeze them. A day or two before I plan on going trout or salmon fishing I unthaw the eggs and take about 1/4 teaspoon in to a small patch of ladies nylon pantyhose. I then wrap the pantyhose around the eggs, twist at the top and tie off with a small piece of thread. I end up with what look like small pealed cherry tomatos, about the size of my thumb from the knuckle to the tip. The nylon holds the ball on the hook, allowing the fish to smell and taste, but not pull it off. I've caught my entire limit on one bait before, but usually good for at least two fish. Many times I've limited while people around me had nothing.

Best trout bait?Hmmm....don't think there is just 1 bait.Everyone has their own choice of favorite baits.

The best trout bait I ever seen over the years has been "Eggers Bow Series Spinners" as seen here.They even catch other species here in Minnesota.If you want to check them out...here is the link.

oatmeal mixed with cheese, biscuit dough from a tube mixed with bread crumbs, even foam ear plugs kept in the power bait jar........ I have used many weird combinations..... I even used Styrofoam include on my hook to help it float....... injected worms with air from a needle..... I have run through many I have used but now I prefer live minnows.

If you are talking lures vice bait, then Kamalooper spoon is my go to choice. Preferable in bright orange, but the red/white works pretty good also.

Someone has mentioned something almost like it, shrimp sandwich.
SALAD SHRIMP FLOATED WITH POWER BAIT OR MARSHMELLOWS
Now you may not believe that it works as well as I say it does, but where I fish, it is a killer. I out fish everyone 5 to 1.

Here is the rig, make sure you use the small shrimp under ?? large shrimp doesn?t work.
