Must have been a chilly ride out there it was only about 50 degrees here in LI yesterday. Boat looks very stable out on the water…
It’s actually going up to the 70s for Wed and Thurs

The hull and outdrives were quite dirty, so we did not get above 40 mph,
Dirty hull will loose a few, but with four people aboard I think its tell ya what it will do in the future with loosing 10 mph

Boat test had 2 folks and 50 gal fuel and did 50 mph.

I would question his compression gauge accuracy. however they were all within a tight grouping.
Here is the results from the survey report. I think the compression ratio is something like 11:1 on these engines? Not sure what the Mercruiser/GM spec is for psi, but 11:1 probably gets you upwards pf 200 psi.

We had 5 people . . . surveyor, engine mechanic, a captain, the broker, myself.

The props had all kinds of slime on them and it was a 2-foot chop. The boat feels very solid in the chop . . . We got up to 40 mph without and trimming. I don't think it will hit 50 mph, but probably 48 mph.

Engines RPM's were 5100 and 5200 RPM. It is running 24" Pitch prop sets.

The surveyor showed up in just a t-shirt . . . forgot his sweat shirt at home 🤪

It was not too bad out there . . . we were only out on the ocean for about 10-15 minutes. Just enough to test WOT, the trim tabs and a few other things.

Is it the GM 6.2 base engine? Or is it one of the blocks that Mercury is now manufacturing?

265 hours on the engines . . . SeaCore, Full closed cooling, digital throttles . . . 7 (seven) batteries. Joystick, AC/Heat, Smartcraft, etc. . . .

It will take me a while to figure it all out.

All the boat haulers that I have talked to are just way too busy to even think about hauling the boat. So, I might do the trailer thing now and bring the boat home myself. It would need a 12,000 lb. net capacity trailer.

There are a few fix-its that I am having the current owner take care of, so I have a little time to check out trailer availability.

mercury makes the blocks, however the rotating bits look like GM parts which match the spec's published late in 2015 for the 2016 Mercruiser 6.2

Thanks, Scott. For some reason I was confusing it with the GM 6.2, which I think Merc used before designing their own block of same size. I am wondering if Merc 'borrowed' any design/component aspects from the GM blocks, or if everything is 100% Mercury?

Does that also mean a single source (Merc) for parts, rather than getting the aftermarket equivalent on many things?

The challenge du Jour has been to line up a trailer. I have given up on trying to arrange for a transporter and will just buy a trailer and haul the boat home myself. (200 miles)

A trailer would be nice, because I will be able to take the boat out frequently for bottom/outdrive cleaning and any maintenance that needs to have the boat on land.

I've checked high and low and called around . . . trailers are like hens teeth right now, be it used or new. It looks like I will be getting one from 'Boat Trailer Depot' - 13,500 lb. net capacity. There is a fair number of reviews for them on THT, and I believe they are associated with 'Rock and Roll' Trailers in Florida. The owner is going to squeeze me in the current production batch and has a truck load of trailers scheduled to head north in about 2 weeks.

My next best bet was about 6 weeks out for a Venture VATB-12625 trailer. . . Or pay about $1500 more for a used trailer on FB marketplace.

these are a couple of local trailer dealers on Long Island, not sure if they have inventory though.
I was thinking of getting a new trailer for my old boat and decided to just put a heavier duty axle under it instead.

We have a 2018 Venture (VATB-12625) with electric over hydraulic disc brakes on all six and balanced radials on Chinesium aluminum rims. Tows like a dream. Stops even better. When setting it up, redrilled, lowered and pushed the main bunks to the widest to get CG down. Also changed the hardware to G8. Did it before setting the boat first time, in the delivery marina’s lot. Took a buddy and I about an hour. The next morning, it took three hits with their travel crane to get the winchstand and target bunks set. About another hour, but we messed it up twice. Tipped the three yard guys $100 each. Subsequently, changed to Made in U.S.A. Timken bearings and Goodyear Endurance tires. Honestly, no difference compared to Chinesium but I felt better about it and still do.

I checked in with Riverhead and they were not helpful . . . one word answers, so I'm not sure what they really have on-hand. Pricey too.

I was able to find an opening in a trailer guys build/transport slot, so that will get me something in about 3 weeks. BoatTrailerDepot . . . made from USA materials and components..

Do you know how high it sits on a trailer?
Yes, I have the factory drawings for trailer setup - Keel to top of arch is 10'-5". Now . . . Assuming 2' off the ground on the trailer, it would stand 12' 5" once loaded to the trailer.

Probably would be a bit less, more like 12' even, since the keel would probably be about 18" off the ground while on the trailer.

I actually called them today to ask about something else and also asked about their inventory and the guy I spoke to said they were 'loaded with trailers'....I think his name was Chris....
