Well . . .

Plan A was to have a boat hauler bring the boat to my home and set it on blocks

Plan B was to get a trailer and either tow it myself or have a tow-away service

The logistics of getting a trailer and truck, along with my upcoming travel plans are making things a bit challenging. Sooo . . .

I think I am onto Plan C - which will be to have a USCG licensed captain bring the boat via water from Long Island NY to Cape Cod MA . . . about 180 miles. We are set for next week - weather permitting. The cost is one of the lower of the options.

Then, I'll be posting about the 'Happiest Day' . . .

Getting a uscg cert captain is easy,, the issue is how good they are. Reason, sister has hired at least 4 over the last several years and 2 of them damaged her boat, and did not have insurance.

She has a 52 foot Jefferson and cannot be moved by one person, so hence the need.

Look close and get references

Ted try asking for referrals on www.thehulltruth.com
looking at the windy app for weather...it looks like....good weather till Friday, not too windy.....should be good then....You can also use the Univ of Ct My Sound weather buoys for real time wind and wave information....
this really makes more sense because now you have time to get a trailer and truck and can wait for your best deals to come through. Lucky with the weather this week, not like the stormy & cold weather we usually get.

The bits and pieces are coming together . . . I bought this truck yesterday. I think I should have the trailer soon.

2012 F-150 3.5 EcoBoost, Selectable 4WD (2H, 4H, 4Lo). Nice off-road tires that should get up the launch ramp just fine.

This truck is quite clean and rust free for a 10 year old. Just need to add the step bars/running boards . . . my knees aren't as flexible as they used to be 🤪

Yes, a bit light on the tow rating, but I'm only going 1 mile down the road . . . 30 mph.

I decided not to tow the boat the 250 miles from Long Island. Else, I would have gotten an F-250/350 diesel.

With any luck, I'll have a trailer on Monday and the captain service will be bringing the boat via water to my home port that day.

If all goes well, I will be starting a 'Happiest Day' thread.

Nice boat Ted, Congrats!

The hauler that just brought my new to me 330 sundancer had an f250 and hydraulic trailer, the boat weighs about 12k, He said it was a breeze to tow with that ford.

He charged me 700 for about 65 miles, and blocked it on my property. Guess that was a deal!
