Only a little work on the boat lately .. Busy at work and the Admiral decided she wanted a newer ride to work .. So we found this after a long search .2008 model ... Had to go down to Orlando to get it .. Great deal on it and stayed under our budget .. And it does have the tow capacity that I need for the boat . ;)

Still keeping the Escalade for most of the towing needs but the SRX is there if we need it ..
Happy wife . Happy life ! :watermelon:

Oh yes you have to keep the household happy and literally means the wifie. With that stated, what is that SUV and is it front wheel drive. I'm looking for a mid-size SUV but it has to be rear wheel drive for towing efforts. I haven't seen anything FWD that could tow much of anything. And that is because the newer SUVs are not built on a frame anymore but stamped metal body construction with out any frame. I really wish both Ford and GMC/Chevy would return to their frame built mid-size SUVs. That is what I presently have and I love it. But it is a '98 Blazer. While it looks great and drives great, I know its time is coming one day...

It's a Cadillac SRX V6 AWD . The stock ones only have like a 2000 max tow capacity . But with the utility/tow package this 2008 year is supposed to have around a 4200 capacity .. They do have V8 models but the newer models don't have that as an option ..
I wanted a white one but I could not find in my range with the utility package ..
Although it has a "tow package " they did not come with a hitch . Mine does not have one . I can either get an after market one or pay the price for the Cadillac one .. The good thing is that tells me the po never towed with it .. It drives and rides as you would think a Caddy should ! :joyous:

The manatee has chicken pox ! I counted around 120 or so patches . The small blisters got bigger when I started grinding .. I was able to grind them down past some delamination ..

Also started remolding the bow with some very hairy pb . I did the wax paper trick with a squeegee and it worked pretty good . Still need to fill a few places before I glass it in ..

Been raining cats and dogs down here ! :rain:

Sam they have a vaccine for that... Are you sure it is chick pox and not leprosy?

I guess PB is the cure though. Good effort I'd say. :thumb:

Good one Woody !
Mother nature is really working against me down here ! It went from temps in triple digits to every afternoon torrential down pours complete with lightning and sideways rain !! About the time I get some resin mixed and ready to go here comes the storms ... The misty rain hits the hull so I have to abandon all efforts of doing any glassing .. :rain: Florida liquid sunshine !

Sam you do realize that chicken pox gets you out of school / work for a week right? Looks pretty serious to me, you wouldn't want to spread it!!!! I'm spraying clorox on my keyboard right now.....take a week off and get it all out of the Mantee's system!

Nah its fiberglass dust that keeps shingles, chickenpox and about anything else away, including the IRS....just surround yourself in a protective cloud! :D

Sam if you had chickenpox when a kid you are very susceptible to shingles now for sure. Don't ask me how I know that...unless you really want that answer.

I think I have had the c/p as a kid !
Oh well I could slip and fall in the shower too so no need to fret over it . ;)
Photo bucket changed the lay out for linking photos .. Took a few mins to figure it out .. Stopped raining long enough to get a little done . Got the bow damage all glassed in and the rest of the chicken pox filled and rough sanded . Had to sort of rebuild the keel somewhat .

All the major rough filling is done now other than I need to put a layer of csm on the transom .. There were so many spider cracks on there that I just decided to grind it all down to glass ..
Hope everyone is having a great Sunday !

I see you like the cement block too. They worked really well for PBing my floor down. Looks like you have it figured out and built back up again. I like working with polyester resin and fiberglass CSM and 1708 UNTIL I have to sand it out and fair it. If it didn't plug up so quick, it would the best thing going. Doing auto body work and using EverCoat Z-grip, I'm spoiled now. You mix that stuff up and apply it in mere minutes because the work time is about ten minutes until it is hard. But it sands like butter and as smooth as you want to make it. But keep posting your ideas and work. I have to flip my hull real soon as well and can use some good ideas... :thumb:

This blistering thing has me second guessing on gell coat ...
Anywho Soon I will be installing the wood under the rubrail area and would like some thoughts ..
I need to grind the gell coat off inside the U shaped channel but was wondering if I should grind down and tab into the gunwale side a few inches . Or just fill and glass just butting into the inside corner of the gunwale ....

Don't sweat the blisters with gel Sam, they come from the lams, not the gel...I would sweat the using gel in general tho, paint is so much easier....I also wouldn't add tabbing at this point, the fairing will be tedious...fill, fair, and paint will get er done, imo.
