Re: Rustoleum Questions

I used the rusto clean metal primer( over existing paint), sprayed on with hvlp, very thin two coats, after 2 days it was scratch proof, i couldnt lift the primer if i tryed. I wish i could say the same for the top coat.
It acctully crossed my mind to add alittle color to the primer, spray on a few coats then clearcoat for uv protection, but i didnt. every time i look at the gouges in my paint i wonder if that woulda worked better.

Re: Rustoleum Questions

So yesterday I put my first coat of rusto on with the majic hardner in it. This was rolled-n-tipped over Duplicolor self etching ZC primer. After 9hrs of dry time in the low 60's I had to push pretty darn hard in with my finger nail to hurt the paint. So far Im happy with the results and it is holding better than the junk marine paint I put on the falcon after it dried for a month.

Objects in picture look worse in person, just FYI. :D

Looks good to me! A couple questions: I saw the green tape at West Marine for $28 per roll. Any better prices around? Also, how much majic hardener do you add to the paint?

I'm sure they have a special green masking tape , but I'm sticking with the $4 a roll green tape Lowes and menards sell. Lol that place is a joke, nothing like 5000% markup. One pint in a gallon (the whole thing), 2oz in a quart (1/4 of the jar). Only mix what up what ya need. I was mixing 24 oz of paint with 1.5 oz of hardner which was just enough to cover my 18 holiday.

This is a great topic. Been thinking about what to do with my trailer and this may be a good alternative.

I used the Rustoleum Marine primer and I didn't use a hardner. Make sure you wet sand the primer until it feels smooth. 2 coats of primer, then paint.

Light is Right!!!! 2 -3 Coats! If you use the Hardener You only hve to wait about 4 hours between coats.
