2011 Ford Ranger - 4 liter, 5 speed auto. 15.5 around town and 18.5 highway. In cold weather, subtract about 1 mpg.

Pulls my 3000lb load easily.

Re: Report your NO BS mixed driving mileage!

Is that a 2wd Hoe or a 4wd Hoe? Also is it throttle body injection? I don't think they went to sequential multi-port until 97 or 98. I know they had it in '99 as it made a whopping difference in mileage and rated HP. In fact, a sequential, multi port injected 350 has higher horsepower than my '94 454 TBI boat anchor.

it's 4wd and it is throttle body.

Between my boat and my "DirtyHoe" My fuel bill is more than my mortgage monthly..lol

I'll be happy to swap out the 5.7 for the 5.3, even 2 or 3 mpg gain will help with how much i drive.

1999 F250 Powerstroke, 7.3, long bed, 4x4, 6-speed manual, 212,000 miles.

Around town, lots of stop and go and short drives, 17 MPG. Highway 65 MPH or less, right at 20 MPG empty. Pulling my 20ft bowrider, 15 MPG.

I love when everyone asks how I can afford to drive such a big truck. Look at everyone's else fuel economy on here and mine is actually better than the majority. I can go well over 600 miles on a tank (empty) and I have 600 ft/lbs to the rear wheel.

Diesels rock!

I get pretty much the same with a 5.3L gas. Even pulling this I am only a mile or two different than when you pull your bowrider. 13mpg was with a lead foot. I think I was at 73mph with the AC on. This month on my last two tanks I have averaged about 19.5 mpg via the dash computer.....

So I guess I will keep my non-diesel :D

Yeah, until something breaks!

I'll admit that diesels have more expensive systems, like HPOP and injectors, but I've got 212,000 miles and haven't done anything except for a power steering pump and an alternator. I am due for glow plugs, but they aren't very expensive. I've done 3 oil analysis and the engine is showing absolutely no signs of wear, so there's no reason to think it won't last another 200,000 miles.

I've got a buddy with that engine, and it's a great engine, but I would be willing to be that your computer is lying to you, they almost always do. Next time hand calculate your MPG's. I'd be surprised if your MPG's are actually that high. You are probably more like 11 while towing.

I think a lot of the Ecoboost owners aren't getting the promised numbers. I've looked on Fuelly.com, and 15-17 seems to be the norm for them.

Yea the ecoboost is a pulling machine but you pay in fuel. I got the screw 5.0 4X4 with 3.55 gears and it gets 19 to 20 empty on the highway at 70. I just pulled 5300 pounds 800 miles and averaged 15.2. That was 65 to 70 MPH. 5300 didn't bother it at all. I get 16 to 17 empty in the city. Not sure if the op is looking for something as new as a 2011 but I would reccoment the ford f150 with a 5.0.
