Yes, as red as red can get. Omnova Boltaflex Colorguard in 'Tomato'. . . it was also OEM on my 1991 Formula 242SS. I highly recommend it (the Colorguard line). Really durable vinyl.

Here is the first backrest done. This one is the bow front backrest. It was fairly difficult to make, but it came out OK.

It has the diamond quilting and the CY logo. It is also using most of the vinyl colors (red, black, white, gray). The other backrests have more of the diamond quilting showing. This one is a fairly short backrest, being all the way forward.

I have learned how to sew curved shapes better & easier, based on a video I came across. I usually have to staple the panels together loosely before stitching, but this one I was able to sew free-hand using the technique I discovered in the video.

Watch how the woman makes the material follow the curves. I was doing it a complete opposite way and it was a lot more difficult.

Here is the forward facing backrest of the rear seat. It does not get a Logo since it faces inside the cockpit area.

The alignment is slightly off, so I'll have to make sure to get the rear facing backrest aligned better.

I have to check the sewing machine adjustment. I'm starting to break threads when I back-stitch, so something isn't right.

I'm working on the rear facing backrest of the stern seat, which matches the forward facing backrest that I just made, except this gets the CY logo. I've applied a few things learned from the previous backrest to this one, so hopefully it will come out better.

One of the challenges with the rear seat backrests is to get the red & gray panels of each backrest to line up correctly, since they will be attached at their top with a piano hinge.

Just checking the dimensions of the second skin (rear facing backrest) vs. the already completed forward facing backrest. . .

Forward Facing: 59.5" width shoulder-to-shoulder
Rear facing Skin: 58.75" width shoulder-to-shoulder

Red panel width (Forward facing): 34.75"
Red panel width (Rear facing): 34.25"

So, the skin has to stretch about 3/4" upon installation (which is fine) and the in the process, red panel needs to stretch 1/2" of the total 3/4". It should be close.

Here is the second skin loosely fit to check for the alignment . . .

The Rear Facing Backrest is all set . . . I got the alignment of the black and the white quilted better on this one.

boats are usually hand-patterned and hand sewn. the foam is usually hand cut. not uncommon to have two different seats different dimensions.

the anal-retentive perfectionist in me goes into convulsions nearly daily because of that exact issue.
