The relays arrived (y) and I'm taking Friday & Monday off to get a good solid 4 days of boat work done.

Even though this boat was marina maintained, it still had (and has) its fair share of issues. So, I'll try not to dirty up the new vinyl seating with all the wrench turning that is ahead of me.
should not the wrench turning be done before the interior.....lest you put a screwdriver thru the upholstery like this dumbell did.

never seems to work that way. My 'lease' on the dining and family rooms in the house (for production and storage) has 'expired' . . .

To @Scott Danforth 's point about boat seating . . . they never go back together the way they were originally (it seems). I put the rear seat hinges in all of the pre-existing holes. Yet, the seat in its raised position comes up a wee bit short of its previous position. It should line up with the adjacent backrest, but is about 1" short. My photos from the original seating showed that the two backrests were better aligned.

There is a limit switch within the frame that I will have to see about adjusting. Quite difficult to access, now that the seat is installed

not sure which mechanism you have however the holes may have slots. additionally, the clearance holes are 5/16" and the t-nuts should be 1/4" that will give a bit of slop.

That did it Ted: you're not reupholstering my boat.

If that's as close as you can get: Sorry pal, substandard tolerances are not acceptable. 🙃

I get how it would bug you: it would me too. But WOW. The overall job on this is off the charts. Really impressive. I've enjoyed following both of your reupholstering threads.
