Max, be on the look out for a tall guy lurking around your boat. It may be Huron Angler (Mike) and its been rumored he is looking for a boat just like yours:eek:
Remember, you have been warned:D

LOL :D Fair warning I'd say.

Good thing is that we do have lots of these aluminum beauties around Mich so I don't have to get confrontational;)

I really like the rig too, very clean and looks like it's been treated well.

9 miles from Lake Huron eh?, nice big hull for that nasty big lake:)

Looks like it needs a kicker. Welcome to iboats!

Finally on the water and fishing!
The GPS showed around 31+ mph top end...don't know what everyone else gets but, with the kicker weight, etc...I'm satisfied.
And the idea I had of weighing down the bow with the 162 qt Igloo wasn't the answer due to the sloshing water leaking around the lid. I ended up putting 3 bags of sand (around 150lbs) in the nose and that helped. A sealed water tank that you could fill and drain easily would be the ticket.
Included a shot of the old Mercruiser minus the alternator as it wasn't performing and will be repaired/replaced.

Deadwood nice fish is it a coho? Thanks for reporting on the cooler with water trick. To bad it didn?t work out. Yup I have used the sand bags with good results. Only problem with them was the plastic breaks down after a year or two and then you get sand all over the place. I have wondered about using fat bags (I think that?s what they are called). The wakeboard guys use them on their boats to increase their wake. It is a pump and a plastic bag that they fill and empty, as they need it. The pump is reversible but the cost was a little more that I was willing to pay. 31+ mph is a decent speed for your boat. Mine barely makes it 29 mph. Might be something to do with salt vers fresh water.

GLG it's a small (13lb) Chinook. Wasn't targeting coho's but the native coho's were running amok down toward the mouth but it ain't legal to keep them...only can keep adipose clipped hatchery fish.
I like that fat bag idea....will pursue....thanks.

DW One of the nice things about this style of boat is the dash. Or as I like to call it ?the kitchen table? You can put some much stuff on it while you are out trolling. Lots of room for electronics and the stuff you need handy for a day out on the water. Still a nice fish even at 13# perfect size for the BBQ. Double check your trailer reach as although adding 150lb to the front of the boat doesn?t seem like much it can cause an old trailer to fail. Don?t ask how I know this.

First attemp to post a picture of one of my boats. This is a 1984 Starcraft SS160. Since picture (mid-summer 2010) I have lost starboard transom corner cap and have converted dual console to center console. 50 Mariner pushes her about 40 mph. Love the new center console. Anyone interested in dual windshield and supports please send me a Personal Message.

Re: Post a pic of your starcraft!

Hello,
I am new to this forum, so am learning. Attached should be a pic of a 1962 Jupiter I bought for my daughter. We put a 50 hp honda on it.

We also just bought a 1982 16ss, that needs work. no pics at the moment.

We are looking for a 18 ss for a place to hange a 130 hp honda we have. I think the 18 ss should handle the weight which is 500 pounds. The 130 is an amazing motor.

Re: Post a pic of your starcraft!

Another picture of my daughters Jupiter.

Does anyone know how to repair the windshield, it has a crack in the middle. Either that or does anyone have another one? Rare I am sure.

My kids, and other kids on the lake think this is the coolest boat. The 60's look is what they like. They run it all summer long, 10 weeks of everyday use for about $300 in gas.
Looking for a 90 honda to put on the 16ss.

We have a group of family cottages together, 3 cottages, about 18 boats, lots of kids and fun etc. The plan is to have the Jupiter with the 50, the 16 ss with a 90 and a 18ss with the 130.
