Re: Post a pic of your starcraft!

Hello, I'm a new member, with a new (old) Starcraft Boat and would like to share some Pics of the,
1968 Starcraft Holiday V-18 with 115 HP Mercury power plant.
The floor has been replaced and the 70 hp Johnson was replaced 6 yrs ago
with a 115 hp Mercury. This boat tops out at over 60 Mph according to
the Humminbird 300TX that came with the boat...I haven't been able to test it yet cause my wife is afraid of water and won't let me go that fast with her in the Boat:( (Next time I take it out, I'll make her wait on the dock until I get the motor warmed up):D Then I'll come back and pick her up...maybe  Other than that the boat totally original.

Thanks

That must be some monster of a 115 as my 200 OB will push my 22 Holiday at 50 and I wont take it any faster. Gets a little light in the front. Great boats my 22 is a 1975 and the 200 Johnson is a 1977 runs very well .I have not done any thing to the boat except clean it and add fuel.,since I bought it 4 Summers ago.

Nice boat, but yeah, I don't think 60 is realistic. It will perform well with that motor though for sure. I have a 90 on my 18' and it does great even with a full load.

Re: Post a pic of your starcraft!

60 mph does seem a little fast......Just tellin ya what the previous owner said.
I'll let you know more Thursday after I take it out again, never the less it is
a nice handling boat even at 20 and 25 mph.......that's all the faster my wife
can handle at this point. This boat has been in the same family since purchased new in 68. It has been on Lake Erie for the past 6 years as a fishing boat, it has been well keep over the years as the pictures show.....Gave $1200.00 for it.

$1200 sounds like a great price with a good power house and in good shape on the inside. 60 might be possible with the right prop, but it probably gives up a little on hole shot. My 18' starchief would do 43 according to my GPS with 800lbs of meat in the boat, and that was with a 25" shaft on a 20" transom so i think it could have done better.

Mine has a 21 inch transom and the Merc has a 36 inch shaft. I have to drop
the nose of the trailer on a cinder block before I can swing the motor down or it will hit the ground..
