Re: Pontoon rebuild / redesign

I had visions of a jib crane in my head.
Yeah that was what I was going for when I was thinking of the seats running parallel to the pontoons. But I think If I run it perpendicular than the out board part could have i float to support it.

Ok this table is starting to give me some ideas......I like how the legs fold up and the whole thing becomes a few inches thick.

Very nice simple hinging mechanism....I also saw some wither the seats were made of mesh or canvas, that might be a good choice....My idea is it slides out and folds out once it is on the water (90 degrees to the pontoon). It would be supported on the outside by a float and the pontoon on the inside. What about a float that inflates? Ideas anyone? I can already hear someone saying inter tube :D

That material is pretty much bomb proof, they drag them over sharp rocks all the time.

not quite a 55 gallon drum, but what about the cylinder fuel tanks that are aluminum? At least they would match the pontoons of the boat.

Time to join in I see free drinks :). Looks like an interesting project. I have to follow this one because this was my second choice in boats and I can see some great ideas being talked about here. I can see this turning out nice. Maybe a future project for me . Good Luck

Cheers

lol! I will keep that in mind....I wish I had some time to work on it this week, so far I have been up to my eyeballs at work! I think I talked my interior designer into helping me with the seating yesterday......I think getting her to sew the vinyl will save me some bucks.

What about a multideck?
Dance floor and bar on bottom, tiki hut on top, with a fireplace (or not )wait a minute, were will the strippers pole go? OH, you would just have to do one more deck because the strippers have to be on top.......floor. ;)

Thanks for the thoughts produce guy.....not sure that boats and fire go well together  but keep throwing the ideas out there! Sounds like everyone is really wanting the stripper pole :D lol!

I did come up with an potential flotation bladder for the floating bar.

http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_11151_10001_112853_-1?cid=sc_google&creative=6913298284&gclid=CKeNod2tq6sCFQl1gwodAH7Y6g

Or I might have one made by they guy Sqbtr posted the link too. Either way I figure that the inflatable is the way to go. It collapse to save space, and you can add or remove air depending on who is setting on the bar. I will need some kind of air pump, but I figure one of those that you use to blow up tubes would work fine.

Now I need to get some of my fall projects done so I will actually have time to work on the boat! I haven't had a chance to in the last 2 weeks. I should be able to get back to it at the end of the month.

I just came up with a genius idea for a float... An empty Keg!
A little bulky but goes with the theme of the party barge.
On a more serious note, the reviews for that water bladder say that the fittings would be hard to work with. Could check Craigslist for a fat sack

The fat sack is a good idea.....thanks for the thought. I usually try to read reviews....but didn't on that bladder, thanks for the heads up. I'm a ways out on building that, so if anyone has anymore ideas throw them out there. Thanks for the interest zopperman, I hope I can keep you entertained! Right now the biggest challenges are for me to get my outside projects wrapped up and to find some funding for the project. This economy is killing my business....I have some large proposals out, hopefully we will land one so I can free up some play money for this project!
