HAahahaha thanks guys, Kids are good for some thing !!!! lol That cut off wheel sure get the job done , now to cut new transom braces and find some marine plywood , and a bunch of woven glass , have some matt glass , think i am going to mat, then woven ???? sound good ??? Did i tell you guys that when I was grinding the rest of the stringer out I noticed that it as two layer of matt glass !!! man they built it cheap !!!! John

Ok well ,,its been a few ,,,,i have been working my butt off at work ,,,, had the last two days off and got out on her !!!! and man if i didnt need some more work ,,, took off the U-bolts and the rub rail off her and was looking at the bolts and there was soft wood on them and stuck a pick in the holes and it went in a good inch and where I had some cleanup to do on the trans, and I didnt like this one spot where the speed tube went threw !!!!!!!!!! SH&T and a few other choice words!!!!!! SO the transom is comming out !!!!!!!!!!! John

lol man i just reread my last post , and I swear i wasnt talking about the wife!!!!! HAHAhaahahaaa Its not going to be that hard to do it right now !! theres only one pice of glass holding the top on right now ,and like i said get it done right This Time !!!!! I have some 2 x12 , and some 3/4 oak plywood, thought I would lap joint, 4 pieces of the 2/12 together , then back them with the oak plywood as a backing,and then all that wrapped in some of 16oz glass a couple of times. how does this sound? It will last what 20 years ? that 2 x as long as i am going to have her, so it sound good to me , she is going to have a 1000 merc 100 hp , thats max she rated for........ ok lets get her done,,,,,,,,, lol John

i didnt quite get what you ment with the 2x12s....

havent heard of using them for a trans....how much ply do you have...?

pt is the generelly accepted way to go.....

im just about done ripping mine apart and about to start the construction part.

Hay, well I have half sheet of 3/4 inch oak furnace grade plywood. and the 2x12 are planking , what i was thinking was taking a router and cutting a 3/4 deep by 1 1/2 in, so i can lap them , then exposy them together, then exposy the plywood to that .... and then glass it all back in .... So what do you think ??? can you picture what i am thinking? John

ya gotta beleive, solid stock would be better than ply....old ships transoms were solid....i think tashasdaddy, would have the real poop on that.
this is only my second transom... the first was an ob 15 foot and a breeze to do.

Hay OOOPS did you see the list i put together? havent ordered it yet , its 377.00 not included shipping on that from US Composits. I dont think i will have to up anything . I have 10oz 18oz chopped matt, and some 8.5 2x2 twill fg e cloth so i have more then enought glass !!!! John

It is going perrty good , have to cut the last piece of glass to get the top off so i can get the transom out, I think it wont be to much to get it out in one piece!!! I hope !!!! Other then that have to wait till next week to get that ordered, other then that theres nothing else to replace so thats the other good thing, !!!!!!!! lol john

youll be done in a month. thats march.......ya better slo down or your gonna be sittin on a finished project and too cold to launch!!!!

its amazing how fast the time seems to go.... seems like yesterday i was building the cradles.....

OOOHHHHH Man I allmost left THIS in there, man am i really glad I didnt !!! I would have been ripping in to it this falll , If it would have lasted that long!!!!! Well as you guys can see it wasnt fun, took about 2 and a half hours to get it out , i guess thats really not to bad, and it came out in one piece, and can use it as a templete for the new one, just have a little bite more to clean up , so Demo is really done now !!! yeaaa haaaaaaahhhhh lol john

here the pic,man is it snowing out there we got about 9 inchs out there today!!!! there saying 10 to 15 inchs before its over!!!!
