Where is buoy 10 in relation to Fort Stevens?.....
Murky mentioned that his panties might get wet in the big water, due to the size of his boat.....:p
Is there crabbing & fishing east of there?.....
I have a 22' SRV......
I wouldn't flinch at 4-6........
It depends on the wind & tide I'm sure.....
I used to do Barnegat Inlet, NJ in my 21' Chris Craft, that can get downright nasty.....
Anyway if it ain't too bad on the east side of the lagoon, maybe we can coax Murky.....
Where is Rooster Rock on the map?.....:)

Rooster rock is about half way between Troutdale and Multnoma Falls on I84. Another idea is Beacon Rock state park on the Washington side. It's about 25 miles east of Vancouver on SR14.

The guy's are just havn fun with Rooster rock, it's a very hit n miss deal, now if you want just google rooster rock state park.

As to the Warrenton area there's about 5-7 mile's of river river that can be used for crabbin and salmon fishing, the water should be fine for almost any type of boat, again just goole Warrenton oregon in the maps and use a sattlelite to survey the area. Bouy 10 is almost on top of the bar, your last chance kinda...:D

I'll tell ya Bro, if you have an experience with the Columbia bar on a lil' weather eppisode you would not like it at all. It is one of the top three river bars in the world for rough water, (according to me sailor pals one of which is a Skipper of the third largest tug on the left coast, [160 foot I think] that does the bar every two weeks or so). The flow rate is sooooo strong (6-7 knots) and the bar has some relatively shallow spots, n' I can't think of a bigger puddle on this particular planet we live on. I don't know if it ever gets "flat calm".

I have an old 1959 very cherry n' fairly sea worthy 18 foot Sabre Craft, (modern boats of the same length would be cornsidered 20 footers). The roughest I've been out was the 'Straights o' Georgia' where we were in 6 to 8 foot seas with the wind blowin' the tops off the waves. It was not fun but survivable, as I had me top on the boat so I did not take on water. The Columbia bar with the strong current is MUCH MUCH WORSE.

I also have some of me smaller ski boats that I could bring, (an easlier tow fer me), if we are in real sheltered waters. The Columbia is very fun farther East, so I think it would also be fun in the Portland Vancouver area as well.

If we need salt water lets play in Puget Sound somewhere! My $.02 JR

OMR is quite right here, take a closer look at those boil's there 15' high and there not rolling wave's..........There are way's to get out to the bar, but i would not even bring it up during this outing, to much risk.......But it is fun to get on the back of a 10' roller and ride it across the bar, ya just dont want to run out wave, the next one's coming @ ya at about 10 knot's.. hence my sig, been there done that..

But the river is quite calm and walking out to the cape is a sight on a outgoing strong tide.. you get a good ideal just how awesome the sea can be.

If that washington sight has good facilties that might be a very good location.........umm looks like about a 5 mile jaunt to Suaive's island which also has some nude beach action for those who show intrest....;)

East of portland the columbia is pretty rough, one giant wind tunnel. That is why i havnt said to much on this rooster rock state park, or any other park's. Unless someone up that way know's of some enclosed bay's and no sand bar's it can be a rough place..

I'm not sure where we are talking about but I can always sleep in the boat. Keep me posted as I am struggling to get ready for my Alaskan venture, July 23-29.

Re: Pacific North West Gathering.

I can do it in early August or later in the month of August. I do need a little notice so I can adjust my schedules at the business. I would have to do a Saturday, n' Sunday, as a Friday plus Sat & Sun would be to disruptive fer me business. I would like to rent a room for two, or sleep in a tent or on the boat depending on which boat I bring down. I could bring either a small ski boat that would go in and out of the water or a mid size one we can sleep on. JR
