Racism smacism. We are way too politically correct these days. Matt, as a boy I saw the tail end of the real racism that existed in America, and what we have today is in no way shape or form like that which Rosa Parks experienced. <br /><br />LF makes a great point that the liberal media is trying to manipulate our thinking. Just give us the facts man. If Muslims want to hurt us, then we need to know it. I'm not saying thats true in general mind you( but it does make you wonder when they were silent post 911, and the fact that 300 cities in France burn each night), but it does seem like the militant ones are wanting to take over the world. Should we just put on blinders to that danger because it is PC?? Should not the Jews have been afraid of the Spanish Inquisition? Should not the blacks been afraid of whites after the civil war in the South? Ok, I get it, only the White Americans are suposed to put on the blinders because only they are racists. Wrong, every human on the face of the earth can be scrutinized and identified as "racist" in this loose application of the word in some way or another. An example of what I mean is to say that Al Franken is "racist" towards Rush Limbaugh. Linda Rhondstat dislikes or hates Republicans up front. Maybe prejudice is a better term, but lets stick with "racist" for now since it as been bantered about.<br />It is perfectly fine to correctly identify an association with a religious ideology that has people killing Americans at Ramadan to gain credits in the afterlife. <br />I'd say these Muslims that think we are infidels unworthy of life( again , I don't know that percentage) are something like "racists" . The same phenom is occurring...us against them. Good thing we wern't so politically correct in WWII. We <br />might not have won that war. We needed to be able to identify the enemy as the bad guys. If the pc answer of recognizing they are "just like us" would work, then I'd be all for it, but that does not seem to be a realistic view. Peace and Love

Q/C, it'd be interesting to hear some of your findings whenever you get a chance to pass 'em along.<br /><br />oddjob, my understanding, from various sources, is that Jihad (holy war) is a declared war in defense of Islam against an aggressor, but is prohibited against peoples of the book aka believers aka followers of God. Allah being the Arabic language equivalent of God, refering to the omnipotent deity followed by Muslims, Jews and by extension, Christians.<br /><br />Al Qaida and other radical elements of Islam have decided for their own reasons to declare open season on Jews & Christians.<br /><br />If all Muslims (as opposed to the radical terrorist Muslims mentioned by Mr. L/F) "want to eliminate every man, woman and child who does not believe as they do" then Islam is our mortal enemy, and we should be carpet-bombing Iraq, Iran, Saudia Arabia, Kuwait, much of the African continent, and the rest.<br /><br />Al Qaeda is to Islam as the Ku Klux Klan is to Christianity.<br /><br />Note to Friz: don't mean to judge you as an ignorant bigot; it was something I read into your words; sorry for causing offense.

One piece I'll add now jtex is the textbook's definition of Jihad <br /><br />"An Islamic term that is often misunderstood is jihad. there is no reason to apologize, unless it's for my possible misuse of the word racist. i guess bigot would have been a better word.<br /><br />but in today's world, racial and religious prejudice is the same.<br /><br />i went back and read her c/p again, thinking i may have missed something. i didn't. in fact, i actually caught more parts that simply state that muslim = terrorist. if the post was trying to argue with a liberal media, it was a very poor attempt.<br /><br />i refuse to let anyone make a comment like that, and not have me comment. regardless of who the person is. that is being a man.

Pirates are seagoing thieves, plain and simple. They kill you, steal your boat or ship and everything in it.<br /><br />The Achille Lauro was hijacked by terrorists. The guys who attacked the cruise ship off Somalia were terrorists.<br /><br />Pirates attacking private vessels in the Gulf Stream and the Bahamas were a real problem in the late 70s-early 80s. When boaters started going heavily armed the practice sort of died out. Drug running was more profitable and less deadly<br />
