@ Eric, I don't mind pulling out at the end of the day. That's great there's a spot to beach it, maybe for the time we come back for lunch or what not. It's amazing how quick the campgrounds around Lanier fill up, maybe we'll end up back at Sawnee. I plan to go look at the sights the weekend after they open so we'll see.....

I don't want to step on Eric as hes the OP but both he and I have already began planning for a Memorial Weekend camping trip. Maybe we could all meet over over the weekend or even get adjoining camp site.

I'll leave this all up to you Eric but am willing to help with planning and/or organizing.

Hey Craig, looks like they are working for June 29, weekend after the one in Fl. Not sure I will be able to do both, nothing is out yet

So far I have thrown out one date (29 June) with no feedback, positive or negative. I did see in the South GA/Florida get-together thread that there was some negative reaction to that date, as its so close to the June 21st date that has been set for that event.

I'll be on Lake Lanier most weekends from mid-June until either the water levels get too low to put in at my preferred ramps (west side of the lake) or until the water gets too cold to water fun (somewhere around beginning of October). How about we plan for mid-July? Weekend of July 19-21? That puts us a couple of weeks out from 4th of July, about 3 weeks from the start of school, lake should still be warm and have enough water for a fun day. It may be a little too hot to camp, though.

Thoughts?

My family and I are also out most weekends starting Memorial Day until around September/October. I'm game for mostly any weekend, including the date mentioned.

We usually take some grillin' food with us and just setup a picnic somewhere. Everyone can bring a little somethin' and we can have a buffet style lunch/dinner.

Sounds like a plan. We are definitely on board for a potluck/grilling picnic thing. Okay, we have a plan, and a tentative date. Who's in?

Depends on how low the water is between Lake Siminole and Appalachacola, if the water is too low you may not get through, so I have heard.

eavega is taking the lead. I wouldn't mind doing a meet at Allatoona. Being new to Atlanta last April, we haven't been out yet.

Sure...just make sure it's sittin on a trailer following a tow vehicle:facepalm:

I like your thinkin', Richard.

I have a confession to make though. I towed this boat from NJ to FL. Total illeagal. She is 9 1/2 feet wide.....oversize by a foot. I stopped at St. Simmons Island, GA for a couple days. A sheriff followed me to the Interstate. Once on the ramp he stopped and let me go.

I will never do this again.

Have fun GA guys!

Hello, I have not gotten in on this yet, but living in Marietta, I would be interested in meeting up at Allatoona. That is the only lake the wife and I boat at regularly. Being about an hour and 15 minute drive (towing the boat) from Lanier, we stay up in NW Georgia mostly. Would be cool to meet some other Georgia Iboaters at the lake.

Hopefully I will finish my out drive reseal job this weekend, so I will have a boat to get on the water!!!.

I've never been on Allatoona, but am not opposed, as long as someone can tell us a good cove/beach to get together on. We can take the July 19, 20, 21st dates and go to Allatoona instead. Like I've said before, I am on Lanier most weekends, so a Lanier get-together will be more of a last minute thing then?

Who would be interested in firming up Lake Allatoona on July 20th? Lets formalize that one, as long as someone can give us a good cove/beach and nearest ramps. As for Lanier, can we plan that one around the June 21st date?

-Rgds

Re: North Georgia get-together?

Hello Eric, why don't we take a pole like you said and see who could be able to go to both lakes ?? I put in at the Blockhouse ramp on Allatoona, but that may not work for some people. I'll look around and see how other ramps look on the North end, or maybe someone could step in with some info. You could still keep the date of June 29th for Lanier and how about July 13th for Allatoona, thats my Birthday weekend ( Party Time ). But I'm open for whatever the group wants.

Re: North Georgia get-together?

I don't know anything about Lanier, On Allatoona the Clear Creek cove has an abandoned camping area with a decent beaching area. Primitive is the best way to explain it. Only a suggestion.
