How did you mount the trolling motor on the front? Looks like you used spacers to make it level.

When I replaced the bow supports and cover plate I beefed up the supports with a solid piece of ply. It still has a little bow to it, so I needed to add some shims to level the TM a bit, as well as allow clearance for inserting/removing the arm for the TM quick release bracket. The spacers were a combination of stainless fender washers and rubber fender washers. The bracket is through-bolted with washers and loc-nuts. Much easier mounting just the bracket rather than the entire motor, but a lot of trial and error to get the right shim/adjustments.

Thanks for the pics...brought back lots if fond memories. I had one if those back in the 80's. Great boat...ours had a 70 hp and would do 35 mph.
Had lots of good times in that boat....

Starcraft on the water! Went to a local electric only lake over the weekend to test out the trolling motor and electronics. Towed well, launched well, everything worked, and no water in the bilge after multiple hours on the water over a two day period. Most importantly though...the kids got on some bucket mouths!

Was going to wait until I actually had this one in hand, but I figured the journey is a big part of what we look forward to sharing here. Made an agreement with my wife that if I sold the 16SS after having taken up space in our garage and two different homes for a number of years, I could find the hull I wanted and build another one as a keeper. I hope the saying holds true that the third times a charm...

After prematurely looking for good bones for a new rebuild (I think my wife was thinking "next year"...lol), I have a verbal agreement in place on a '84 MR180 about 3 hours from here. Watched it for about a month and had several conversations with the seller. Plan to hit the road pre-dawn on Saturday morning to arrive around sunrise, look her over, and tow her home.

Keep your fingers crossed for a safe journey with no surprises/disappointments...

My last Starcraft was 3 hours away also, wife did not like that. I still have the Starcraft
