Re: New England Get Together

I am looking forward to this. Planning on heading out tomorrow for the first voyage of the season.

Over the last few weeks I replaced my power trim motor, speedometer tube, bad tachometer, missing windshield supports. A couple of my seats were moving around so I took them apart and replaced a few stripped out bolts/nuts and greased them up.

Still a bunch of little stuff to do but she is ready to go.

My trailer is a different story. Need to inspect and lube wheel bearings. I got a spare tire finally but I need to get a mount and install it.

Went out yesterday for about 2 hours with my brother in law, son in law and my granddaughters.

The motor ran great. Started right up and ran smooth as a top.

Ran into 2 minor issues.

1. Trim gauge not working. This was not working last fall so it is not a new problem. I should have checked this out and replaced it when I did the trim motor a few weeks ago. After returning I chased this down. Looks like the trim sensor is bad.

2. Temp. gauge is not working. This is new as it was working last fall.

It was perfect day to go and the lake was pretty crowded. Wide open I got her up to 44 mph which is top end so that was good. WOT RPM was between 5200 and 5400. Seems about right but I really can't say much as the tachometer never worked from when I got her until I replaced it a few week ago.

Re: New England Get Together

I am very envious of everyone who has got out on the boat already. I am finishing up my To-Do list, and since our family goes up to NH for Easter, only got about 2 hours to work on the boat before having to leave on Friday. Hopefully this nice weather will continue and I can get everything done I need to...

I am in Florida this week and I have to say, 85 degree days just make me crazy for boating. When I get home, I will be taking her out for a shake down cruise. I love hearing about everyone getting ready. I am jazzed about our GTG. So many things to look forward to.

I'm still waiting on my new trailer registration sticker from the RMV! I can't even take her on the road yet to get to the water!

Although this has given me the opportunity to get some work done. Installed a GPS with a sounder...had to drill a 3/4" hole in my transom...i cried for hours.

Boat is being delivered to the Marina this Wednesday. I will most likely be there after work and can snap photos then.

So I should be at the Cove for Aug 1, rafted up for the weekend!

I won't be in the water until mid May or so.

I still have a checklist to get to as well, but life seems to be getting in the way for the time being.

Surge006 where have you gone the two times you have been out?

I am about 90% ready for my checkout run, about another half day finishing everything up. I hope to be ready after this weekend.

Re: New England Get Together

Hopefully, I'll be ready to do a test sea-trial, in the next week or so..... BUT... I was nearby the ramps today on business and since it was such a nice day out... decided I would spend some time during lunch taking some pictures.

The first set is the Salmon River launch, the second are of the Old Saybrook launch. While I was there, at the Old Saybrook launch there were about 7-8 boats that launched... which made me very jealous...

Coming into the salmon river launch from the main road:

Awesome bridge that goes over the river about .5 mi south of the launch... a great spectacle on a nice day from the water....

Can actually see the launch... but it's hard unless you have been here before....

Down river, if you look closely you can see a landing strip on the left side of this picture. One of the coolest thing I have ever experienced is being at anchor near the runway on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, and watching planes do practice take off and landings. they come in right over the water, it's pretty cool. There are also two water runways here, which make for some interesting sights as well, when the planes are trying to land and some idiot on a jetski is doing circles in the middle of the designated landing area... The planes usually buzz the area until they get the picture and then leave:
