Re: New England Get Together

I realize that these last few posts, were a ridiculous number of pictures.... Hopefully it will give people a good idea of the ramps and what the river is like if you haven't seen / been on it before. Sorry if anyone is offended by the number of pictures... :)

Dang Tlynch!! you stole my thunder!! I was planning to do the same thing . Great minds think alike I guess . Great job on the shoot- never can have enough photos . I'm thinking I'd use Saybrook...How much time to drive between saybrook and salmon ? And any places to sleep near the ramp ? peter

Re: New England Get Together

Sorry Pduquette, didn't mean to steal your thunder. The Old Saybrook ramp is definitely the better of the two, but I think can be quite a bit busier. Also parking isn't as plentiful at the Old Sayrbook ramp. It took I would say less than 20 minutes to drive between the two. Not sure about places to sleep near the ramp, I saw one campsite looking place but that is about it. No real hotels around this area of CT, at least not this close to the River. I would suggest you still take your drive, it was beautiful the other day and will only get better as more foliage emerges.

Re: New England Get Together

Zach, I will definately let you know on the boat. Need to get the fuel tank, old engines/transom mounts and other misc items out. There is a refuse place that will take the old hull right in Berlin. $100/ton, which seems well worth it to me.

Got more progress done on the new hooptie. 2/3 of the way there on the starboard side, port side was only able to be washed. Stupid yard work at the house killed me.

Yeah a total of 2.5 yards and about a days worth of work, but I wasn't in a rush. Yard is a mess right now but it's all a learning curve for me. Yes a pool back there.

Sadly the yard was for me not the significant other. I did enjoy a nice BBQ and a few beers after:). Heading back to the boat this weekend though. Docks should be in at the boat yard too!!

25thmustang, Looks really good, what are you doing / using to bring back that gelcoat?

On another note, I had my boat out for the first time this year on Saturday. It was a great day. Everything went smoothly, and I hope to have it out on the charles river this thursday. Going to take a day off.

Anyone else go out this weekend?

Re: New England Get Together

I'm using Meguiars products. Oxidation remover, Polish, then top it off with their wax. The photos are mostly shown with step one and two, as I don't have any photos after the wax. The wax doesn't change the look though, just adds protection.

I should be starting the top sides this week, and then cockpit interior gets a once over before it goes in the water in a couple weeks.

Re: New England Get Together

Zach, Tachs were sold, I think the only gauge left is the speedometer. I got some topside polish done but it looks terrible! Should be enough to keep the oxidation off the hull though.
