4.) Make the bend and check that you're 90-degrees with a square.

5.) Put the brace in position & mark the shelf (should be ~ 7/8")...this is the outer tab. Line-it-up in the brace...paying attention to where your clamps go; the outer tab is going to swing-towards the clamp.

BF are you going to tie it all together with another long piece of aluminum screwed to the deck and riveted to each Z bracket
Pink foam could also be placed between the Z brackets for additional floatation.

Hey Astor...stuffing foaming into that empty cavity is in the plan!

The side panel assembly will serve the purpose of the aluminum that you describe.

Thanks for stoppin' by!

Hi blue, can you show the break tool you're using? I have access to two different 8' breaks used for trimming windows, I recall testing a piece of 0.04 and it looked like there was no chance in bending it.

Hey Ct, it's the 30" Bending Brake from HF. you place the piece you're working on under that heavy piece of stock and clamp it down with some heavy c-clamps & wood blocks. zero complaints so far!

Yep, its on sale; normally $100. It is still Christmas! ;)

at that price, it's hard to beat...it will pay for itself quickly if you fab your own channel, angles, braces, brackets, etc. :thumb:

You'll need some big c-clamps. In my illustrations above, I only use the irwin clamps to temporarily hold the piece until I get it clamped.

tin heads definitely have the cooler tools!

LOL, I think we do, always looking for that excuse to purchase a "necessary tool"

go look at the harbor freight website, there is the annual 25% off coupon for Jan 1st. I may have to print off two and have the wife go shopping with me. I think I need that lil brake, and maybe a set of HVLP sprayers.
