Looking good, I'd probably be sure to fill that chine w/ PB when you set the deck.

Looks like it fits much better now...

That looks a lot better! I used west systems 6-ten between the hull and my deck, pricey, but it works great! And the working time is 12 hours or so.

I agree^^^
Another option to filling the chine with PB is to add a strip of 1x2 Fir tabbed to the hull to act as a ledge for the deck to rest on...then just put down a little PB to glue it down and tab as usual up the gunwale...

Re: My 1968 Glastron GT160 rebuild......

When I put the floor in mine, I just glued it down with pb where it made contact at the top of the curve. I also tabbed it to the hull with two layers of 12oz, 6" wide tape around the edges. It is rock solid. I don't think you need to pb the entire chine. It is hard to see from the picture, but filling that entire chine area would take gallons of pb.

I'm not sure of where exactly JB was talking about peanut butter, but I just epoxied mine where the deck makes contact with the chine. After that I tabbed it in with 2 oz CSM, its taken several years of beating with no problems.

I was talking about the large void at the chine, under the outer edges of the plywood deck.

Having hit the original fiberglass hull w/ a grinder, it seems like a good idea to fill in the void in the center right of this pix:

Thanks for the feedback Gents. JB, I have to admit, when I first read your post, I think my wallet had a heart attack!!!! I thought oh my god, that will take 10 gallons of resin to make that much PB. I still am not sure exactly what you are meaning tho...

As much as I love the snow, these pix are kind of sad.....My 81 GX150 and the lid for my resto project 68 GT-160. I know they are sad and lonely.........

Hope you all are staying warm!!!

Everything is iced over hear, but the roads were warm enough that they are dry now. Everything else has about 1/2" on it.

Unless you're a Mercury fan & 'Want' it, I'd wait for a less expensive CL option. $110 is high, IMHO...

It would probably be up to the task, I think it's based on the Singer 15-91 machine:

This was the 1st pix I found, and is likely much earlier then the Mercury.

Thanks JB, I have no particular like for this one vs any other....know nothing about sewing machines. Guessing I would need a heavy duty one for vinyl..... appreciate the feedback.

Re: My 1968 Glastron GT160 rebuild......

PM WOG w/ any possibles (include the Mercury) and he'll help you sort it out. He's our resident sewing machine whisperer....

(sorry WOG ^^^)

Yes heavy duty, perhaps industrial, but any w/ quality construction & metal gears is up to most boat upholstery. Not for everyday use doing marine upholstery work, but up to a few seats in a boat or 2.
