OK. Only use wax in the final coat of Gel. Make sure all blemishes are filled and faired. On the Deck, I'd Roll the gelcoat. Gives it a bit of a texture which kinda gives it a Non Skid effect.

Re: my 14' tom boy project

okay so i was trying to decide if i have enough resin left to finish her i have almost 2 gal. left. I have roughly 10ft of deck thats not quite 4 ft wide still need to coat both sides with csm also two layers of csm after i screw it down. Also install the original seats and live well will i need a third gallon? I dont want to over order also dont want to be short..one other thing on drilling my weep holes since my stringers are only 1" thick i was going to just drill 3/8'' holes how will i go about sealing these holes..any input would be helpful

Your weep hole should be 1". Cut some 1" PVC and glue them in the holes with resin. Yer gunna need at least 5 gallons of resin to finish maybe 6. You gotta make PB too!!

Re: my 14' tom boy project

ok if i drill 1 inch holes in my stringers it will pretty much cut them in two they are only 1'' tall im guessing that is no big deal.. 5 gal. huh i thought you might say that. i dont want to have a bunch left over so im just going to order 3 single gal. instead of a full 5 gal. since i already have 2

Re: my 14' tom boy project

Since my stringers are so small i cant drill 1" weep holes im going with two 1/2" holes in each stringer its my only option at this point

Yeah, I took a "Re-Look" and with the design of your stringers I'm not sure I'd put weep/limber holes in em. Did the original have em? could you tell? If so then go back with the same size as was there and if there were none then don't drill any. Your glass and sealing was far better than the factory and they'll last a whole lot longer than the originals.

The originals stopped short of the transom im guessing for that reason i extended them after consulting with you mabey i sjould have just left them like original ..hmmm what to do im sorry i should have provided more info when asking about whether or not to extend the stringers i wasn't even thinking of weep holes

Re: my 14' tom boy project

Ok gotcha now. I would for sure drill some 1/2" holes back by the transom to allow the water to cross flow to the bilge. It will be fine.
