Make one of these from a scrap piece of 2x4 drill a hole to fit the shank of the bit. Use a VS Drill and go slow until you get through the glass. Watch for the point to come thru the other side then drill from that side to finish.

After i drill the drain hole do i just coat the hole with a little thickened resin to seal it.

You will install a Brass Drain tube. You will Use 3M 5200 to seal the hole and the tube. Here's a drawing of how to make your own Drain Tube Flaring tool.

Re: my 14' tom boy project

So I was wondering im going to be glassing my stringers in this weekend and I have two of them that fit the outside of the hull do I just tab one side because the are right up against the outside of the hull or do I just do the top and run the fiberglass up the side of the hull. I looked at wood s diagram and it only shows if u can get to both sides

If I understand your question correctly, I think this will do the trick.

If you are talking about this stringer...

Then, this is how I'd recommend installing it. I would use PB to fill the void between the stringer and the side of the hull or if you have a table saw bevel the stringer to conform to the angle but still bed it in PB or PL.

Can i use a different type of adhesive to stick my deck down to the stringers. i just feel it will take a lot of PB and really go through the resin

Re: my 14' tom boy project

You could use PL but... You don't have to use anything. You can just screw it down with deck screws. Predrill, coat with 5min epoxy from lowes and screw it home.

Re: my 14' tom boy project

This weekend i was talking to my friend who owns a body shop. He is going to let me pait my boat at his shop when i gel coat do i need to add the wax or can i just paint over the gel coat without adding the wax. I understand ill have to sand the wax off before i paint im just wondering if i can eliminate a sanding step by not adding wax

Soo... R U gelcoating the entire outside of the Hull? Has he ever applied Gelcoat? It's nothing like painting.
